Grading thoughts?

Hey hey,

So I got this card a while back because it just makes me ridiculously nostalgic for pokemon crystal on gameboy (plus that top right swirl ). But through the shipping process it ended up with a crack on the bottom left on the front of the case.

I’m considering getting it recased with a couple of cards I want to try get graded at the same time.

Any thoughts on regrading it at the same time? Is it a shot at a 10? I can see 3 tiny dots on the corners when I zoom in closely. Am I being too optimistic it could get a 10?

sick card my g, doubt would hit a 10 tho but if its already got a crack no harm in trying. good luck

I’ve had worse 10’s and I’ve had better 9’s

I don’t think I’ll fall in with the majority here but I would say go ahead and crack it and send it back in for a fresh grade. You need to recase it anyways and afaik those need to go through a separate order than a routine grading. The fees would be excessive to just send one single back for recasing considering it needing it’s own return shipping. It has been a while since I have done any recasing directly so I don’t really recall. But yeah in either case I don’t think it hurts to send it back in raw just be sure to send them the label at some point down the line to fix the pop report.

I would crack it open because it’s cheaper than recasing.
Other than that, I don’t think you should expect a 10 from this, maybe on a good day but this usually should come back a 9

FYI recasing a single card costs me 22 dollars. You need to remember that it is a separate order from a regular card submission and he its own insurance and shipping.

For my taste, that’s two dots too many. But top right and bottom left are really small, so you might have a chance. Good luck.

e: Nice Card

Check the surface. Most people think PSA only grades the backs of cards. There are plenty of PSA 9s that “look like 10s” but have surface problems. One scratch or print line across the foil and PSA will almost always downgrade the card.

I would even go as far to say that surfaces are the main downfalls of cards in certain sets. The Neo sets are particularly guilty of this. Print lines on print lines on print lines.

If I were to ever crack this would be the situation. Good luck:)
