Grading non holo Base Set 1st Edition

I have a bunch of mint 1st edition cards that I’m considering grading. Do you all think it’s a wise decision to spend about $400 grading these cards?

So long as you have the money on you, it’s always wise to grade mint 1st Edition Base Set cards.

It only takes 1 or 2 of those Uncommons and Rares getting a PSA 10 for you to increase the value of your cards by more than $400.

So, yes.

Not even a debate, those are a must to grade. Good luck!

anything in shadowless 1st edition that will hit psa 9 or above will be worth it :blush:

If your intentions are to resell I’d skip on the non rare trainer cards and energies. They’re harder to move unless you’re going to auction them/have a good seller platform.

If you’re just looking to grade them for your own collection, it’s up to you what’s worth it or not.

So what would you guys suggest regarding MP-HP non-holo 1st Edition cards? Are they generally easy to sell? Any sense of price range? Or would it be easier perhaps to sell a complete or near-complete lower-quality mon-holo set of cards?

I’ve got close to 100 non-holo 1st editions, most of which would fall below LP condition. A lot are grey stamp or 3D stamped even, just curious on recommendations for what do to with them… thanks!

@john,

Just out of courtesy to the OP it’s best to create your own thread asking about your cards:)

I’ve always been under the general impression that folks prefer to continue short branches of the same topic within the same thread, esp. since the original question(s) were already answered. Someone doing a search and reading through an ongoing convo like this might gain more insight or find their answer a few pages in, as compared to searching through “one question & one answer per post” threads.

I can see both sides of it especially if the original conversation is still going, so it’s no problem at all. Just an interesting observation. Not trying to be “that guy” or anything. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks for the heads up though Gary, it was anything but intentional so I appreciate the fyi on general practices here.
