Goldin Auction Thread

You’d have to pay me $200k to buy anything with Logan Paul’s name on it. I don’t need a reminder of everything wrong with modern day influencer culture.

Having his name on the slab is like spraying it with max repel

should be 200k less coz u gotta reholder it to get rid of the stupid name so gotta factor in upcharges and the risk that it might become a 9

funny thing is i think some of the logan paul break cards have sold throughout the years and they went for no or negative premium :grimacing:

My buddy who collects sports cards and knows 0 about pokemon texted me today that he looked at the illustrator scans on Goldin and said “that grader needs to be investigated” and asked me what I knew about the card lol

considering he got it for free(IIRC he still hasn’t paid it back), even if it sells for $3.50, he makes a profit.

And honestly there is already so much compounding fraud around this radioactive thing, what’s another sketchy situation? Ken is giving him 2.5 mil at least. And in that rando chat they had, ken said he might try to buy it, so he essentially was going to at least shill bid it to the price to cover his advance.

Ultimately this plastic and label isn’t about collectors. It is about the ultra wealthy trying to out-clown each other. Any collector would wait for a illustrator without the baggage. And illustrators in general are in a sort of “is it real, is it coming from akabane’s basement” situation, where its unclear. So the whole entire population of illustrators also comes with an extremely costly baggage too potentially.

The Tag 10 and at least one of the CGC 9.5s and PSA 9s are nicer cards. Full stop

considering the amount of controversy around this card (not even considering it was resubmitted 10 times before it got a 10 ) and the fact LP might get sued/there might be a criminal investigation (iirc liquid marketplace has already been investigated by the canadian SEC or something) anyone bidding a real amount of money on this card will likely get scammed in the end and/or be in a world of pain getting the cert to hold up

and goldin has already auctioned 2 pokemans in the last 100 auction that had deactivated certs :rofl::rofl:

and he paid only $250k for 50% of the card in 2024 which means it was valued at 500k last year

The Canadian SEC did go after liquid marketplace. And yes, it does seem that those with a fractional stake have failed to all be made whole. And of course I don’t know if a proper vote was ever conducted to sell it in the first place. i’m sure it would have passed, only needing an extra %2, but it all remains as it is.

That’s it for me. The details are indeed there. Logan’s biggest thorn in his side Rattle has done a pretty good job detailing the history of the card in his videos. And others have too at this point as this is a potentially big issue.

And yes as an aside, the card’s last sale value is indeed $500,000. So to claim its worth $5m in the span of a few months? That is interesting, thank you for pointing this out. And even at that, only at most $250,000 was paid to aquire this since Logan again AFAIK, never paid the IOU. Which was far greater than $500,000. And interesting how he keeps shilling it at an amount that would just allow him to cover the cost of buying the other shares from liquid and to cover the IOU with a little extra on top…

It is ultimately up to whoever is the highest bidder to take on the massive risk and hold the bag if they decide its worth it. Funnily that is the part I’m least concerned about. If you are an adult with that much money, you can do the footwork or pay someone to do the footwork on this thing and decide if the juice is worth the squeeze.

This whole situation just feels stressful, and makes me feel gross. I just want to collect funny shiny cardboard rectangles in peace. I hope everyone learns from this and past scandals, don’t get scammed. And its okay to NOT buy things if something is fishy. Best of luck to everyone in their collection goals, top to bottom of rarity and prices. Be safe!

He’s probably just referring to the original purchase price which was 5m cash + trade.

So what do we reckon about the final sales price if it finishes close to other hobby grails results (action comics no 1, mickey mantles, honus wagners, extremely rare coins, etc)?

Does the illustrator deserve to be on the same level of other collectibles with >70years of history?

Is the sheer collectibility of pokemon being worldwide (compared to mainly Americans in other categories) outweigh the lack of history?

Is the risk of another 10 appearing not being weighed in? We know Akabane has plenty left. Where other collectibles are nearly exhausted of all supply for their grails.

Food for thought

depending on how many 15M+ options was bought on polymarket could be over 15M

I have seen quite a few big players posting they’re bidding on it currently so I think it will hit 10m. I had put some money on polymarket for an 8mil win but i can see kevin olearly’s of the world wanting this too and would not be surprised if it hit 10m or more

I would be sad that it would be even in the same tier as real historical grails

That picture is hilarious oh my gosh haha! The greed got to me I admit. So far I’m doing well and will use the profits when I sell to buy more vintage! I felt this is one bet where i know more than the average “prediction gambler” and thus bet accordingly with a small amount

a way to manifest reality with enough money.

Big companies pay influencers or social media stars millions for just a few pictures with a product or a few seconds of advertising. I’m not shocked someone’s paying millions for this Pikachu. I guess people’ll record Logan Paul delivering the Illustrator and the owner’ll present himself and his brand. It’s similar to when the 1st Edition packs sold for $40k each; how many of the buyers were actually collectors?

i always wonder what ppl would wanna promote with logans “brand”

maybe if its some crypto or gambling company it would make sense

Forgive me, but I am surprised at how high this card is already. Am I crazy? I mean the market is the market, but I didn’t think it’d get to 5 million.
