GCR (BGS->PSA) advice for a slab with scratches on case

Hi,

My apologies if this post is in the wrong section, but I was hoping to get some general wisdom from E4 about a BGS 9.5 slab I’m thinking about attempting a GCR with PSA with a 10 minimum grade.

The subgrades are very strong on the slab so it should be a solid candidate, but the issue is that the case itself has some slight scratches on it as seen(somewhat, sorry hard to capture) in the first image above. I don’t know enough about the Graded Card Review process, but I’m a bit worried that the grader would simply not attempt the crossgrade if they see these scratches.

I know I could try to recase the slab first with BGS before sending it to PSA, but my understanding is that BGS would re-grade the card essentially if I went that option, which obviously risks the subgrades. (Please lmk if I’m wrong here)

So yeah, looking for some advice/opinions here if possible . Thanks!

You will absolutely lose money under Graded Card Review. Crack and submit. There is no other way forward.

You can use PlastX to remove the case scratches

From my experience, every metal polishing paste or even a car paint polish will work very well to remove light scratches from plastic. Or use a specific product like Polywatch.

If the scratches are deel you have to use a fine sandpaper (1200 grit) and then use the polishing paste to restore the polished finish

As with most things Beckett does, it’s pretty unclear. In most cases, if there is no physical damage to the slab itself (like holes or cracks), the grade should remain the same during reholder. However, they reserve to right to reexamine and lower grade if they feel they can. It’s not great. Also as far as sending it in case to PSA. They will not give you the 10, even if it’s deserved.
