We all have mini-sets within our collections. Be it evolution lines, rarity cycles, connecting arts, or even just our own arbitrary frescoes and murals, which currently stand incomplete. These gaps in our collections stand out like a sore thumb and are just itching to be filled.
One example from my collection is the noticeable absence of the Gengar & Mimikyu GX alt art in my nearly complete rarity cycle:
I’d also like to cite this other gap in my collection which, only until recently, had sat empty for years. Imagine the relief of finally seeing this vision come through!
Any gaps in YOUR collection? Why that card paired with those other cards in particular?
Of course, I’m also still missing four out of twelve Art Academy Pikachu and the Pikachu SNAP, but if I ever get those, they’ll go to either my top-loader binder or graded binder, in which I haven’t left any gaps. I’ll simply move things over when that day comes.
The gaps drive me absolutely nuts but i’m in lucky position that all my gaps left are just cards waiting for me to buy them. Some more pricy ones but unless something weird happens or some stupid prize card gets released there shouldn’t be any gaps left when i continue with completing my goals
A handful of “unfindable” cards are noticable gaps in my collection as well (Promo 6 in German and French, Korean Starter Deck, Korean Promo) but the cards that should be findable are what drive me up a wall the most. Any other missing cards are decently findable but I just haven’t spent the money and time to get them.
Thanks to Tapp for some of these scans, they’ve been a lifesaver in messaging people for what I’m looking for.

I recently filled one with Regional DVD promos, so that was satisfying.
Otherwise, I have a few Team Rocket Returns reverse holo cards that I know can get swirls but which I haven’t seen yet. And also some which might get swirls, but I don’t know because I haven’t seen any. This is stressful, because I own many of the only copies I have seen with swirls. I feel like most of them should. Exception being probably octillery. But I haven’t seen some with tons of holo space like flaaffy.
I’m trying to get all of the Tag Team alt arts in english in PSA 9, but I’m not doing the latis. I really don’t like the art and of course its not cheap enough for me to get it just to fill the gap so that will always be a hole. I plan to get the flat Arita art version to take its place.
