Hey guys, so I was sorting through some bulk WOTC rares at a shop the other day and was specifically looking for 1999-2000 base and fossil cards. I came across roughly 8-10 1999-2000 fossil Raichus while none of the other fossil rares had that date, which I found suspicious. Was this card released in a theme deck or a specialty product that could account for the high volume of what I thought was a very hard to find card?

Tempest and thunderstorm theme decks**
The Zapdos from that theme deck is also 1999-2000 with cosmo holo foil along with Energy Search, Psyduck, and Golduck.
The rest of the 1999-2000 fossil cards have been found in packs in Australia except the holos. The zapdos from the theme deck is the only 1999-2000 holo.
Additionally, the fossil holos have a Cosmo holofoil variant with 1999 copyright but believed to be sold off by former wotc employees and not out of packs but dont quote me on that one.
Another fossil card PSA doesn’t recognize is the Cosmo prerelease Aerodactyl from Europe also known as the gold stamp.

I feel your pain on this one. I knew about the 99-00 fossil cards but not about theme decks. Found 7 raichus in a collection I bought and thought I hit it big lol
