For those of you who have bought a "grail/out of reach card" how did it feel?

I didn’t really have a particular grail until I realised that E3 red cheeks Pikachu became out of reach for me. That was the last and most expenside card I needed to complete my wotc promos.

So beginning of this year, I offered to trade a couple of Charizards for it and the seller agreed. I flew to Belgium, made a cool weekend trip, and returned back home with my grail.

The journey is better than the destination…at least for me.

My card was the coro coro nidoking. Found out it existed and loved the art

I could not find a “good” (raw in 8-10) condition for a price I was willing to pay. So over a year I searched websites and ended up buying 3 unpeeled sheets and peeled them myself. They looked good so I sent them in and got a 10, 8 and 4 respectively.

Sold the 10 and 4. Kept the 8 never been happier

Getting a 10 on this card was a lottery win, congrats!

The chase and aquisition for me was always the enjoyable part of collecting, having a goal and working toward that especially if it’s difficult to achieve. I am definitely in the category of “once they achieved the goal, it wasn’t as exciting for them anymore” .. some of the cards after aquisition I didn’t physically look at or think about for literally years.

The question you have to ask yourself is; how long have you wanted the card. If you really wanted it before you could afford it, then it is a go.

As for buying a grail, it is awesome. I can still dream away to my Dark Espeon card night after night.
