Welcome! This is a catalog of my collection, which focuses mostly on Ponyta and Rapidash. I’m working on a master set of the TCG cards for each, as well as errors, non-TCG, PSA 10s and other unique items I’ve found over the years. I watched the show as a kid, and aside from loving Entei in the third movie I was obsessed with the Flame-Pokemon-athon episode where Ponyta evolves into Rapidash mid race! In addition to my master sets I do love to buy multiple copies of shiny Ponyta, the topps holo variants, and bootleg vending stickers for extra sparkly binder pages. I also have a weak spot for interesting or uncommon non-english cards of other Pokemon and stamped exclusives, so I keep a binder of those as well.
I’m still working on image uploads, but links will be below as I add threads under this post:
" It… cute… lovely… smart… plus… amazing… you think so?.. oh yes…it… stunning… kindly… love it! Hug it…when… sleeping…warm and cuddly… spectacular… ravishing… …Oops! Look at the time! I kept you too long! Thanks for hearing me out!"
I hope the reference reached many of you, but Rapidash is awesome. Nice cards!
Awesome collection! Love the prototype figures/plushies especially, but all those PSA-10s are also very impressive.
And I coincidentally re-watched that episode for this thread. It’s also one of my favorite episodes, and it was fun to re-watch it again after such a long time.
Moncolle TOMY Test Shot Prototype Figure
-I don’t have much information since I received this as a gift, but based on other proto figures I’ve seen, this is a pre-production figure used to test the molds before the finals were made and came from a Chinese factory. I have prototype figures from other IPs as well, and the blanks are some of my favorites!
Jazwares Sample Kanto Ponyta Plush:
-I’m unsure if this plush ever made it to production, my contact in China told me that two of these were a batch of plush that were tested but never officially released. I’ve owned a few different Jazwares samples (Jigglypuff, Charizard, Squirtle, Pikachu) and the tags all vary. Some are blank, some have text, others have the large hang tags like this one.
Kuji Dramatic Collection BANDAI Plush Sample
-This is the only plush of the three that saw release, and was a lottery prize available exclusively in Japan. If you drew the letter B, you’d get this as your prize! The tag came partially ripped, so all you can see is “sam.” The tag would typically say “Sample” and “Date.”
Unreleased Sleeping Ponyta Plush
-It’s been years since I purchased this so my memory is foggy on the details, but I believe this was meant to be an Indonesian release of some kind. If I’m able to go back and find my conversation when I purchased this, I’ll update with more details. Probably my favorite of the three, since the colors are unique, and she’s the softest : ) One side of the tag has sample info, the other side has the factory name.
Honorable Mention for this 25th Anniversary Charmander sample! I do have a Squirtle somewhere as well that’s completely white, but I’m not sure where he’s stored. I originally bought this as a trio with Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Squirtle, and Charmander, but have since parted with a few.
I’m so sad that we’ve never gotten a proper shiny Kanto Rapidash card, so I have to settle for the blue ponies from Platinum Arceus. It’s been a while since I went on a buying spree, but I absolutely love how these look in binder pages. I pulled them out for a family photo:
These are my two favorites, arguably the worst condition from each language but both clearly owned by children and well-loved. Shoutout to Carter, wherever you are
Here are some images of signatures I’ve been able to get, nothing too crazy but most of them are personalized with some great memories attached. I would like to focus more on official TCG artists, but I don’t attend any competitive events so it’s a bit difficult- I only want signatures on Ponyta/Rapidash cards! I really did enjoy going to some conventions and getting voice actor signatures, even if they’re not directly related to the cards. The black bars are my name that I redacted for privacy : ) This will be updated periodically as I get more signatures.

A quick post about some Topps Cards while I decide how to organize all of this- the Chrome set is my favorite non-TCG series just due to the holos alone. I have a stack of raw cards that I’ve told myself for years I’ll send out to PSA ‘someday,’ for now they sit in a box and I pull them out every so often to admire the shine.
What a gorgeous collection! The variety already seen here is great and especially the sample figures and plushes are an extremely unique sight to see, the collectible game can sure go deep. But for me topps always takes the cake i love it that you’ve included all the chrome variants, and the miscuts are an awesome addition, when i return back to error collecting i hope i can find some miscut slime cards too
This is an absolutely stunning collection. Thank you so much for sharing all of those hot horses. I especially like the Topps cards, they look so amazing, most of all the PSA 10 Sparkle. This is such a fantastic card.
I am eager to see more of your collection.
A little update post, I finally have my Ponyta Checklist finished! It’s a bit of an amalgamation of others’ lists, so if you have publicly shared a template or spreadsheet of your own, thank you I’m a visual person so an image checklist is the perfect way for me to see what I’m missing. My list is organized in order of release, and does not include repeating errors like the blue dot or shifted shadowless since I keep those in a separate binder. I also didn’t include the matchprint Ponyta, since although I would like to own one eventually there are so few copies I didn’t want my sheet to forever be sitting at 99%. If I did miss something do let me know, since it’s hard to cover all variants.
The goal is to add high quality scans of my own cards into the checklist and eventually a collection website, for now I used images compiled from google searches and listings (images are currently incomplete). After going through the list, I think aside from base set Ponyta the Komiya illustration from Flashfire & Generations might be the art with the most variants printed! Which is awesome because it’s one of my favorites.
I hyperlinked some databases for other languages on the front page, but they’re not always reliable. It’s frustrating since even official lists aren’t accurate- for example, the official Pokemon database is missing the Thai baby shiny Galarian Ponyta. I wouldn’t have known it exists if I didn’t own one already. You are welcome to make a copy of this for your own use of course, my functions and formatting are a bit all over the place though since this was my first spreadsheet like this.
Along with the checklist is my ISO List, I don’t believe I’m able to make a trade post within the trust level rules yet since I’m fairly new, but down the line I will post what I have available in exchange for my list. I’m slowly working on my Rapidash and other set lists as well, and hope to have them posted soon! I’m close to finishing my Chilling Reign binder.
And finally, my most recent mail- nothing too crazy but some less common cards to fill out my pages! I’d been after the Korean Stormfront for a while.
Very cool (or rather hot given the fire type?), always love to see new multilingual species collections and their progress!
And regarding that, Destined Rivals was released in both European and Latin American Spanish of which you are missing the latter. And Clash at the Summit does also have reverse holofoils, of which the unlimited will probably be one of the hardest cards to find. I wish you good luck with that and other challenges like the Polish reverse on your further collection journey!
And one final minor note just in case it isn’t intentional: Your ISO list currently isn’t public and one has to request access from you to see it.
Thank you so much for the info! Spreadsheet should be fixed now. I’m a little excited to hear the unlimited reverse is more rare, there aren’t many Ponyta cards that are difficult to find and it’s fun to track down the less common stuff : )
Going through the modern Asian part again (as that’s where things get complicated with catch up sets):
Ponyta from Team Up shouldn’t have a Simplified Chinese print afaik, but Double Burst also released in Thai, so a Thai version exists.
The latter is also true for the Ponyta from Cosmic Eclipse / Legendary Clash, so there’s a Thai version of that too.
Ponyta from Astral Radiance has an additional T-Chinese print in the V Starter Set Charizard, while for S-Chinese it was part of a deck and only one version exists (neither Space Juggler nor the TCG Classic released in Simplified Chinese as they’re still on their own set schedule to this day and haven’t joined the Japanese one yet)
The Stellar Crown print currently exists in neither Chinese.
And the Destined Rivals print doesn’t exist in Simplified Chinese yet.
I haven’t looked in depth at your checklist yet, but one card missing for the Expedition-tab is the unlimited edition Japanese E1 Ponyta. The Ponyta is the only one from the unlimited edition E1 cards that should be easy to get, since it came as an insert in the Info Pack volume 4 magazine. (The only other unlimited edition E1 cards known to exist (thus far??) are: 016 Pikachu; 028 Clefairy; 029 Meowth; 079 Charizard; and 082 Pichu, which are all very rare and hard to find.)
EDIT: Seems like the unlimited edition E3 Rapidash is missing from your checklist as well.
Maybe this thread I created might be useful to cross-reference with, which has an overview of which sets in which languages were released (up to mid SM era).
Oh gosh, this is a little embarassing because I own a sealed copy of the magazine with that Ponyta but didn’t realize this whole time it’s unlimited because the card is facing backwards thank you for the tip and for the thread link, I really appreciate your help! I recognized your username when I joined here because I used to lurk the pokemon reddit threads once upon a time (maybe 2018?) and I remember you posting your multicolored evolutions pikachus. One of my favorite groups of errors and the poor QC on that set is almost nostalgic to think about, you never knew what you were going to get!
This is awesome, thank you so much for taking the time to help me with my list! I didn’t realize you have the complete staraptor collection, yours was one of the first that I browsed when I joined here and is definitely an example of something to strive for in the realm of species collection
