I do get it, I’m a 90s kid myself. Played Pokemon Stadium at a friend’s house daily, who was one of the N64 pioneers on our block haha. This particular group of photos I just find very lackluster, and they do nothing for me. I guess I just look at them the same way as a lot of other early CGI art Pokemon cards. Most people don’t really care for those either. I’ve never heard anyone say that Base set Gastly, Haunter, or Porygon are phenomenal cards. These snap cards fall into the same bucket for me. They just remind me of worse 5ban Graphics cards, and it’s fairly evident that most find those lackluster as well.
Hahaha I know, I know…they just don’t strike me is all. Still love Porygon, but I’ll take a Komiya or Nishida over that early CGI look every day and not think twice. In hindsight, I guess this thread might not have been a great place to spew these thoughts haha. The unpopular opinion thread may have been a better place based on people’s reactions. I’m honestly surprised that so many folks seem to like these. Always thought they were just popular based off of the scarcity and story behind them.
Although I’d love to get my hands on the Pikachu one day, Bulbasaur has the best artwork for sure. Shared second place would go to Koffing and Gyarados.
The Articuno is the one that gives me the most nostalgia for Pokémon SNAP, but the Pikachu is the card I will always want the most out of the SNAP promo set. I know a lot of people don’t like the extreme close-up but I love it.
