Hello all, have used this site from afar to look into various topics over the years, but this is the first time i havent been able to find what im looking for that was already brought up, so here i am.
A while back I purchased this PSA 7 Mewtwo holo from expedition. Verified the slab/card upon receiving it, and havent looked much since. Thumbing through my pretty cardboard the other day i noticed some interesting things. There was a distinct holo pattern in several parts of the body, as well as some minor flakes of holo in the text portion of the card. Im aware of several eras that double holo is known for such as neo revelation, but ive never heard of such a thing with any of the e readers. Has anyone seen this before? Just trying to gather general rarity of this kind of an error if at all. Thank you for your time!
Welcome to e4! There is no such thing as a “double holo” e-Series card. It’s not uncommon for the cosmos holo pattern to bleed onto the Pokemon and outside of the art box in the e-Series era. Cool card, nonetheless.
Awesome! Thank you for the info. I tried to search images/videos, but couldnt find any with this level of additional holo. Figured this was the place to ask for feedback! Appreciate the response!
I think it’s “double holo” because the holo pretty much overrides parts of the artwork, while “holo bleed” is today intended more like a faint sparkling beneath the artwork, shimmering through the ink.
I indeed used to call the neo era ones “holo bleed” too, but I honestly agree that these two are different phenomena (considering the lack of a white/opaque layer in the first case)
