Yeah, for the English side I’m keeping it to just new sets and the occasional Play! or Trick or Trade
Couple of interesting finds from Pokémon Trading Card Game: Illustration Collection Book
Sets Freeze Bolt and Cold Flare are called: Freeze Shock and Ice Burn
They are illustrated by: 5Ban Graphics
Not really sure what to make of this since the illustrator credit on the poster is Hideaki Hokozaki? I’ll take a look at the poster again when I go through my collection but seems like for now we should use the book?
Collection X and Collection Y are done by 5ban Graphics
Wild Blaze is illustrated by 5ban Graphics.
In the Japanese only book Pokémon Card Game Art collection there is a section on English Packaging Artwork. Here are some notable ones:
Mysterious Treasures is all done by Mitsuhiro Arita
Legends Awakened is by Kouki Saitou
Plasma Freeze is by Shin Nagasawa
Updated with booster packs for the upcoming English set Temporal Forces, releasing on March 22, 2024
Added, thanks!
takuyoa is relatively new yeah, he won the 3D Excellence Award for the 2nd Illustration Grand Prix and started the tcg journey with S8 Fusion Arts (2021)
Hey @koala do you remember where you found the source for who illustrated the packing artwork for Eevee Heroes? Suprised its 5ban Graphics
I speculated when the set released based on how close it is to their RR Eeveelutions V cards (Sylveon V is by aky CG Works)
Thanks! That’s similar to what I was seeing too.
Can fill out some more sets from PLANETA (though we dont know specifically who at PLANETA)
Thanks, all of them have been filled out with Hideaki Hakozaki and PLANETA Otani in their respective booster pack arts. Hakozaki is the founder of design studio PLANETA (September 2011)
Ah gotcha! For some reason I thought we were missing those!
Is this the first time ENG and JPN pack arts use the exact same render?
No plenty of times. Latest one I can remember Ruler of the Black Flame / Obsidian Flames. I wonder what the earliest one was though…
If there is one thing I’ve learned from this post is the HS era pack art had NO business going that hard
