When is the next tournament? Would love to play in the VGC one next time.
Sign-ups for the next tournament (Gen 9) will begin once both of the Gen 8 brackets wrap up. I think we’ll be done near the end of April so probably around then.
I’ll try my best to remember to ping you when sign ups for Gen 9 begin. ![]()

Happy start of the week, everyone. We’re moving along nicely but still got a few matches left before we can move to the next phase of each bracket! I know a couple people messaged me about being on holiday until this week so hopefully you’re refreshed and ready to battle again!

VGC 2021 Swiss Bracket: Round 4: Thu Mar 19, 2026 - Sun Apr 5, 2026
Hi VGC players, for the third time in a row we’ve finished a round with time to spare, so that extra time will go toward the final phase of Swiss! This will be by far the most impactful round, as it will decide who moves on to Top 8, and who will go to Little Cup.
This is the fourth and final round of Swiss. All players have until Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Midnight (PST) to complete their best of 3 match.

Top 8 Forecast
This will be a quick glance at how each group of players is currently positioned. The 8 highest ranked players will progress to the final championship bracket, while everyone else will compete in Little Cup.
The 3-0 Group (2 Players)

Both of these players have already qualified for Top 8 and will be fighting for 1st seed in the final bracket.
The 2-1 Group (8 Players)
By far the most interesting and volatile group. The winners of their set will also make it into Top 8, however the losers also have a decent shot as well depending on their resistance score. More on that in the next section.
The 1-2 Group (5 Players)
Everyone in this group will need to win their set to stand a chance at making Top 8. If you end with a final Swiss record of 2-2, the tiebreaker will be something called resistance.
Basically, it’s a metric of how well the opponents you lost to did. If you lost to players who performed well then you have a good shot at making it into Top 8, assuming you have at least a 2-2 record.
The 0-3 Group (3 Players)
Many hard fought battles but the Top 8 dream is no more. Little Cup awaits!
How Pairings Worked
Summary
For the fourth round of Swiss, players with a 3-0 set record were randomly paired with other players with the same record. Same for players with 2-1, 1-2, and 0-3 set records, respectively.
As there was an uneven amount of players in both the 1-2 and 0-3 groups, one pair up/pair down occurred where a player with a 1-2 set record (SeasidePokemon) was randomly selected to face a player with a 0-3 set record (lyleberr).
Repeat matchups from any previous rounds were avoided by the system, as were players who had previously paired up/paired down.
Best of luck VGC players, and have fun! There are some very exciting games ahead that I can’t wait to watch.
I feared for this day and it did arrive
. My first tourney and I faced all the 3 friends, ddk in singles, jimmer and tryson in vgc…
Had a crazy set with @Caterqu to kick off round 4 VGC. Some of our turns took close to 5 mins in real time with all the thinking involved.
Honestly still in shock with how I managed to win 2-1. The first game went about as I expected as my plan to knock off and burn Lando was read and things went downhill from there. Game 2 I swapped up my gameplan, made a risky read to get off a NP and won from there. Game 3 is still a blur for me. I avoided wiping to the Metagross lead by making the correct calls but almost lost as Caterqu played insanely well and read me for a few turns in a row. In the end, it came down to some tight damage rolls and a move I never thought I’d use on Incineroar: Taunt. ggs, Caterqu! Hope we can rematch in Finals
