Congratulations @ddk on a great tourney! Well deserved champion and a true return back to form. Commiserations @bule. Just short in the finals but an insane and amazing run throughout the tournament. Both played well and the finals was truly an intense one.

Congratulations also to the top 8. Special shout-out to @lyleberr for showing how it’s done to all us noobs (lyle-style). Great end to another great tourney. Thanks for arranging it @ddk and everyone else who participated to make it awesome!

Looking forward to the next one.

Cheers!

Thanks! Bule played insanely well and made next to no mistakes in the set besides a couple misplays with Eject Button Manaphy. I think had he not made those, he easily would’ve won and brought things to a bracket reset.

Pretty sure this means that my opponents literally tripped headfirst into an explosion. But i suppose with pokemon even seasoned players never know when they’ll have to play against the unexpected.

team report coming soon

Heres a little report on my team

Originally I was planning on just bringing this team by Aaron Zheng. but when Tryson offered to like help people earlier in this thread, I decided to go for it. Long story short he said the team was hard to use so I decided to just build my own.

now team proper:
Building my team my only goal was to be able to beat chalk

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

  • Draco Meteor
  • Double-Edge
  • Earthquake
  • Protect

Salamence was chosen because it was on the other team to beat Amoonguss and to have a nice fast attacker. I kinda regret having draco meteor since it just never did anything double edge couldn’t, but thats what I get for not changing the set.

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

  • Energy Ball
  • Spore
  • Rage Powder
  • Rain Dance
Amoonguss was chosen because I was planning on making the team have a trick room mode and it had neutral to positive matchups against landorus, kangaskhan and other amoonguss, In hindsight, I should have changed rain dance out for protect since like half my opponents were using rain teams and the other half were weatherless.

Landorus-Therian @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 244 Atk / 12 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

  • Earthquake
  • Superpower
  • Knock Off
  • Rock Slide
Landorus was chosen for heatran and to a lesser extent kangaskhan.

Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 60 SpA / 148 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • Thunderbolt
  • Hydro Pump
  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Protect
Rotom here was probably the most valuable member (either that or gardevoir). Chosen to hydro pump heatran and landorus and to will o wisp kangaskhan and landorus.

Aegislash @ Life Orb
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • King’s Shield
  • Shadow Ball
  • Flash Cannon
  • Wide Guard
Aegislash was chosen to beat cresselia and as another Pokemon that would be good in trick room

and that was it initially
I couldnt figure out a trick room setter in a fairly trick room centric team.

Then when practicing tryson just added mega gardevoir and it all worked out

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Def / 116 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • Hyper Voice
  • Psychic
  • Trick Room
  • Protect

now with all that being said I fought a grand total of 0 chalk teams, but I guess my team was just pretty strong in general (further proven by the fact that after 348 games on 2018 ladder, as of the time I am writing this, the team that has worked for me the best has 4 of the same members)

I remember suggesting gardevoir to you as a double mega strat and watching you use it to perfection. Seeing you pilot this team was also kinda fun for me cause i could see the stuff we talked about coming into play!
I honestly dont think I could have piloted this team better as you did extremely well with it!!!
348 games on Vgc2018 ladder already is insane lmfaooooo, we should run some games sometime if you want as i have a good amount of games but havent started the team building yet. More making fun and gimmick stuff while testing

Also feel free to ask for team building advioce, im better at team building than playing lol.

That may have been the most intense grand finals to see live. Some of the turns took 5 minutes in real time to play out as both players were wracking their brains to select their best options. This set highlights what makes competitive VGC so exciting. It may not be a regional, national or worlds tournament, but the decision-making, mind games and adaptation were all there.

With the VGC portion of the tournament concluded, the E4 Gen 6 tournament is now officially complete! Once again, congratulations to our top 3 finalists, the rest of this very competitive top 8 and everyone who competed in VGC 2015. We have a brand new VGC champion entering our hall of fame, as well as a new top threat who appeared out of nowhere and took names left and right. The rest of the top 8 were all players with strong past performances (fun fact: they’ve all made the podium in our other brackets before) and they showed up here once again.

Congratulations to @Tryson21 for achieving the Gen VI Champion (VGC) badge! You worked incredibly hard for this victory and it was long overdue.

Our top 3 finalists @Tryson21, @Caterqu and @ddk will also receive the Gen VI Finalist (VGC) badge.

@DarthEevee (once again) and @ddk will also be awarded the King Slayer badge for felling the previous tournament champion, @silversnorlax204, in battle!

Finally, everyone who participated in either bracket will be awarded the Gen VI Participant badge!

Hi everyone! im here to do a team report of my VGC2015 team. Tbh i wasn’t confident that i could win with this team and thought i would get around 3rd due to the weaknesses it has. Despite the many negative match ups, i was able to pilot my team well and pull through for the win.

When coming up with a team for this tournament, i knew i wanted to use perish trap in some aspect due to having used it even before discovering wolfeyvgc. I first built a team with mega gengar, politoad, goth, and some support, but rrealised i wanted some offese on the team. I then decided to add rain to the mix with kingdra instead of amoongus and scrafty instead of lando T. Finally, i realised that Mega gengar didnt fit in the team. This was quite suprising to me as gengar, one of the best megas and the core perish trap user within this format was the odd one out. After testing out a few megas, Mega swampert, even not used at all, was the perfect fit for the team.

Of course there were a lot of in between switches and changes within the team but these were the final members and considered members for the team.

Now lets get into the team itself. Here is the team sheet: final team 2015. the goal is to use an equal part rain and perish trap duo team which can work together!

Member 1:
The P in CHALK (Politoed) @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • Scald
  • Helping Hand
  • Protect
  • Perish Song
The first and core member of both modes of the team. Politoad, one of my favourite pokemon and one of the best supports i can ask for. As you can see, there is no attack or special attack evs, in other words, politoad is here to stay as a perish song user and helping hand user. For the rain mode, it sets up rain and can do slight damage buffed by rain with scald. It also helps the main rain attackers like kingdra and Mswampert secure one shots (see these calcs in their recaps). For the perish trap mode, its bulky and sets up perish song with a near garantee. To finalize the moveset i need protect for both modes due to politoads ability to bait and threaten people with perish.

Member 2:
The S in CHALK (Swampert) @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

  • Waterfall
  • Ice Punch
  • Earthquake
  • Protect

Mega swampert, the final added member and one of the 2 rain attackers on this team. Its a pretty straight forward set of waterfall and EQ to do stab damge to single and multi target. EQ is also one of the reasons why protect is on every pokemon on this team. I then added ice punch over power up punch to have ohkos on londo T in sun, Msalamence, and do big damage to amoongus (also a few more but not as important). Finally, the helping hand from politoad allows waterfall to ohko Mkang in rain and a few other key pokemon. As a added bonus, it had the ability damp when you dont mega to prevent any explosion or self destruct teams from working easily.

Member 3:
2nd S in CHALK (Scrafty) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 108 Atk / 148 SpD
Careful Nature

  • Fake Out
  • Knock Off
  • Drain Punch
  • Protect

To be honest, scrafty was the least needed and basically useless memebr on this team. it was suppose to help for CHALK matchups and provide both fake out and knock off support while having a lum berry. Unfortunately, I didnt verse an chalk and would most likely not even bring it in the match up. In hindsight, amoongus was a better member, but the little that it played was useful in providing intimidate as it did vs @mrbubbles. It was simply to Mgardevoir and Msalamence weak but still part of the team that won the tourney.

Member 4:
The K in CHALK (Kingdra) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • Muddy Water
  • Draco Meteor
  • Hydro Pump
  • Protect

Kingdra was the glass cannon of this team, with helping hand from politoad, it was built to one shot nearly everything in the format and this was performed in the match vs @Caterqu. between muddy water and hydropump i could do huge damage in rain, which was also buffed by life orb. The draco was no buffed by rain but is so strong that i have to add it. Many of these attckes were just shy of killing most pokemon. For example doing about 75% to 85% to amoongus, rotom, gardevoir, and many other. Switching encore politoad to helping hand was the solution to exploit its potential to the fullest.

Member 5:
The G in CHALK (Gothitelle) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

  • Psychic
  • Heal Pulse
  • Heal Bell
  • Protect

The other half of the perish song duo. it performed its job to perfection by living, healing, and doing damage in trick room. Unlike what can bee seen on surface level, its best paring was not with politoad but with arcanine. Providing snarl, intimidate and willo wisp while goth prevented them from switching was quite devious, especially when goth would heal arcanine. The one thing i regret is heal bell as it was not used in the tourney once. I would either pout trick room or light screen instead.

Member 6:
The A in CHALK (Arcanine) @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 36 SpA / 100 SpD / 44 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

  • Overheat
  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Snarl
  • Protect

Arcanine was the best staller in this team. It worked both in and out of rain perfectly even if it seemed as if it had negative synergy. Snarl and willo wisp with intimidate was perfect to slow down oponnents while protect would stall them out when they wanted to get rid of it. Overheat was for amoongus and aegislash and would one shot amoongus nearly all the time (depending on amoogus evs). Tho, it had one mistake being at 121 speed instead of 122. My mega swampert was supposed to be 1 speed slower than arcanine but in inverted it accidentally lol.

Leads:
There were 2 main leads that were used in this bracket:
Kingdra politoad. There was a lot of this in the finals. It provides such offensive pressure that it forces your opponent to make a defensive move as HH + kingdra move can one shot anything.

The other was arcanine swapert.
Although a weird lead, it is a very versatile and defensive lead. It can one shot certain pokemon, reduce their damage output, or even switch to any other team member in the back. This lead allows you to do whatever you want given that the opponent doesnt have to much offence out the gate.

Conclusion:
This team was first built for a fun tea with pokemon i love, 2 of my favourite strategies, and with a complex theory. With some training and polishing with @ddk and @silversnorlax204 I was able to build one of the most fun team that i have ever built.

I am not sure if i will do as well in Gen 7 but i am aiming for top 3 with another fun team. Not sure how competitive it will be yet but i can wait to build it to see what i like. Tbh, one of the best part of these tourneys is to see what your guys come up with in the team building process. As a team builder, i love see what i can make and what other people come up with. As always feel free to reach out for both team building or for practice before your matches!! As always this was a lot of fun see ya in next gen.

Ps: The team and the boys:
