I will hold a poll to gauge whether people want to do VGC 2015 or VGC 2016 (restricted meta). 2015 is the closest format to the showdown ladder, which would allow people to practice and test things more. The 2016 meta is also extremely centralized and more restrictive in team building. That said, there may be some who want to play with the box legends.

I really hesitate to suggest two separate vgc tournaments. However, if we do no restricteds for gen 6 as a precedent, I have basically no idea what the meta for later gens will be as restricteds are increasingly prominent as we go

Been praticing gen 6 with @RabidSquirtle without rayquaza, Do you really think that I wasn’t prepared to not use rayquaza?
I’m also grabbing 6 articles and more than 30 videos to study. You have me sorely mistaken.

Hi everyone, with the Gen 5 VGC bracket entering its final stages, I’d like to get things underway for the Gen 6 tournaments. There has been some discussion on which format we’d like to run for VGC, those being 2015 (up to ORAS) or 2016 (restricted legendaries such as Primal Groudon, Rayquaza, Xerneas). The option for running both brackets had also been suggested.

Some Considerations:
- VGC 2015 has the closest thing to a ladder on Showdown (6v6 Doubles with restricted legendaries banned but sleep clause & duplicate items allowed). There is no equivalent for VGC 2016
- VGC 2016 can be argued to be a more restrictive meta due to the constraints on team building with powerful restricted legendaries
- E4 has not run a bracket with any restricted legendary (Uber) Pokemon before. This could be a breath of fresh air
- Two simultaneous VGC brackets would allow people to experience the best of both worlds but would drag the tournaments out more and possibly cause a split of participants, increased burnout and additional scheduling conflicts
- There is always the opportunity to revisit older VGC formats we haven’t played in later tournaments once we’ve caught up to the current generation
