I did forget to mention, that Azul and I have been considering dropping the 3D category if sign ups continue to be super low. Every other category has always had healthy sign ups relative to active user base and the small percentage of that that has interest in the art contest.
We love the 3D category a great deal, and want to see a healthy amount of people (certainly more than 3 haha!), but we will consider removing that category next year if we see another contest this year with a very low amount.
So please consider trying this category if perhaps you have 1 undecided category! We understand it’s the hardest category to be sure!

I want to sign up, but I want to be at least on the podium. Only problem? School ends by the time this starts, and even if I start it early, I wont finish it in time. I won’t have a computer lol.
Just a suggestion, but maybe it can be replaced by something? Possibly like a themed category that changes each year?

That sounds like a great idea and knowing us I think we’d get a poll /advice on everyones ideas but this one is rock solid.
We’ll cross that bridge when we get there and hopefully there is no bridge at all but simply a continuation of the commonland!

Its called a library and a google drive. Use those and you’ll be fine. Or just get it done early, your art hasnt been bad.

Quick question: If I make a card based on an existing one, like something inspired by a Moltres promo, but I use Spearow instead, would that count as an original or a recreation?
So excited to take part in something I have enjoyed for years!

Fazool you being back makes me happy and gives me confidence. Big fan of your work and what you bring to that category. We’d both be sad believe me. So let’s cross our finger for at least 6 or so people!

That’s sort of an abstract question, so it’s hard to say based on this info alone.
If the card is loosely inspired but you are illustrating a unique pokemon and background it’s original, even if it’s the same pose.
If any elements go beyond homage (same background or redrawn pokemon from similar art for example) then it’s recreation.
Always feel free to pm us and describe in detail what you plan and we can more confidently place the category if you are unsure.

Cmon @Vertemes You have some great talent in the illustrator app that you use but it seems like you are focusing on things not in your control rather than what you can do. I am very sure if you plan decent enough you can finish your artwork and then probably save it on your phone and then submit it when the submission dates start.
Being on the podium for anything is never going to be in your control but you can for sure reach out to a lot of people with your artwork and showcase your talent in this. Infact I am actually inspired by your comic strip idea!
For anyone else on the fence about participating, this is really a lot more than being good at art. This has always been a super fun community activity and has helped me personally not only make connections beyond the cards I am collecting but also helped me push/discover my creativity side.
Fun fact: It is really good practice for the Secret Santa artwork.

Most of the time it’s about the personal experience and participation. It’s fun for us all to be doing this, and so awesome for it to keep being hosted. We appreciate you guys a lot
