Drop off to vault at PSA event

Has anyone dropped off graded cards to be vaulted at a PSA event? There are several expensive cards I want to get into the vault, where the only other thing that really would make sense is registered mail. I’m unsure if handing off to a PSA employee is better/worse. Thoughts appreciated!

Assuming you’ve verified the PSA employee I’m going to opt for that being better than a possibly disgruntled mail worker(s) and conveyor belt drops/moving parts and traveling x miles to then be handled by a PSA employee.

I was just thinking of this exact thing last week. I decided to ship (UPS Next Day Air) to my psa vault address. I made sure to insure it just in case. Package arrived last Friday. Since it was my first time shipping to the vault, I sent 150 of my cheaper $50-100 cards to see what the whole process looks like before sending my expensive ones. It took about 4 business days for the cards to show up in the system (shows as →TO VAULT). As of today, only about 50ish cards show up as VAULTED.

Overall, I think its an ok service. I wish the UI was more collector-friendly (Can’t sort or create collections/sets) I was hoping it would be more like Fanatics where you can create folders with the cards you want (Lv. X collection/ Gold Stars/ etc.).

Dropped off some high end cards PSA’s Walk in Wedsnesday event today and I read that they also take PSA Vault submissions. Both their California and New Jersey locations have these events on most Weds.

While I have no comment as to the OP question I must voice opposition to this notion. OP did suggest registered mail, being already aware of its safe nature, but there are no conveyor belts or moving parts with registered mail.

This locked cage travels on its own without any consorting with other mail, gets handed off with signature record at each interval, and is only manually handled in this way. Any time it is not traveling these packages are under lock and key at the manager’s office. PSA usps delivery is to a unique PO room at their branch, and so when it is delivered there, it is signed for and left with the desk rather than the room with other packages, until PSA reps actually retrieve and sign for it. If anyone is losing this thing it is PSA, not usps.

USPS is responsible for 10’s to 100’s of thousands (potentially even millions) of dollars worth of insurance for this unique service every day across the country and they would be dealing with a massive issue if they ever skirted the protocol on this. I’ve done it dozens of times. You are required to prepare the package with water activated tape and the local dropoff branch stamps everywhere with their identifier so that even if some employee really wanted to try and be an idiot the tampering would be very clear, very provable. Just to entertain the idea. It’s not going to happen.

i heard it takes forever for psa to “receive” them at such events… it takes like 3 weeks or something just for them to transfer an ebay order to the vault when before it was like next day

I can only speak from experience and have to say this is moreso aimed towards FedEx. I haven’t had issues with UPS or USPS but I’ve heard plenty from other people. All the systems work by design; the problem occurs when people don’t do what they’re supposed to (e.g. scan a package as delivered, put a fake signature & picture and presume they will drop it off later). You’d be surprised the stupid stuff that can go on.
