Do you think CGC will lower their prices?

Sub-grades are something that CGC offers that PSA does not, but having to pay 2x is :poop:

Here is some sales data from the past 90 days, courtesy of TCG Fish. CGC has had ~1/5th as many sales as PSA, and I bet that the submissions similarly reflect that.

If they want my business again, yes.

Where do most sales happen? This data is specifically for eBay

I’m interested in how they filter the sales. Many cgc slabs put psa in the title and I bet it’s not the same percentage the other way around. The only real way to do the data correctly is check every individual sale. Does that happen? I’d guess not but I’d like to know for sure.

I have had extensive talks with @TCGFish and can assure you that that is already accounted for in the data. I think their data is the most accurate out there.

Yes, im here. And yes, tcgfish provide sales data for every single sales, psa,bgs and cgc.

The system is able to classify the item as cgc no matter if there is ‘psa’ in the title or not. even if you put PSA 8.5 in the title but it’s actually CGC8.5, it will still be a cgc 8.5 sale.

It’s only considering eBay as far as I know, but will let @TCGFish confirm.

If possible, can I have some more information of where most sales happen besides ebay? Would like to include this in the future.

The biggest place I can think of is PWCC but I don’t know how the data would compare and I doubt it would be as significant as eBay

From that Gemrate post:

CGC results would have been down ~24% if you only account for one month of activity from that category during November.

Their business got crushed by the PSA $15 TCG special so I would expect a price drop for them to stay competitive.

If you can separate everything into correct piles how come ebay can’t have such a filter? lol. So in short you can know if for example a sale is for a psa slab 100 percent even if it is actually a raw card saying psa 10? in the title. Even if it’s almost 100 percent that’s impressive. There’s so many caveats to take into account that might skew the data even simple things like when listings show up as sold that actually haven’t sold and are relisted over and over etc etc.

There are numerous machine learning algorithms that use the images provided by eBay rather than the title to classify sales. I’m not suggesting that @TCGFish uses these algorithms, but they’ve been around for a long time and have strong sensitivity and specificity.

With the pics people put on ebay that must be CIA level spending going on then lol.

You’d be surprised how flexible some of the algorithms can be. It really depends on your training dataset. If @TCGFish did go this way, I have to assume that their training library was thousands and thousands of individual listings with perfect to awful picture quality / angle / light / etc.

Yes, able to separate raw cards even if the title says, ‘potential PSA 10 Charizard must see’, Or the title says 'GMA 10 better than PSA 10 ’

All kinds of scenarios you can imagine, shilled bidding, selling multiple cards in one listing, wrong card that doesn’t match the title, the list just goes on…on top of this, we also need to manually clean the data 2 times, but still will get error points after all these cleanings, lol

Thanks for replying @TCGFish. If you put something on your website that explains everything you can refer us all there lol.

lol, no problem.

Id say the shift in PSA is visually dramatic and easily explained with small sample sizes…over “different eras”.

All human grading is subjective, and cant be proven otherwise.

Sans industry-wide standards it will always be a comparision of oranges/blood oranges.

No ideal transparency of any company, no ideal standards, no company is beyond reproach (currently).

I really like the concept behind AGS but the market ground to make up, to catch PSA/CGC at this point is like dogecoin catching bitcoin… i think becket could make a big splash by buying them and incorporating the tech along with their history, but i also believe it would invalidate BL10s , and many 10s currently from any company , and the whale market will never go for that.
