if you catch Pikachu when you play though the games, do you evolve it?
If you could share why or why not, that would be appreciated 
gotta catch two pikachus and evolve one of them for the dex
the only time i caught a pikachu it was carrying a light ball and we went on a rampage with the doubled sp. atk
Pikachu and pichu are too squishy, even tho I much prefer them to Raichu
My favourite Pokemon is Ampharos so I pretty much always choose to use Mareep over the other electric 'mons if it’s available before the post-game. Not counting Yellow and Let’s Go Pikachu, I’ve only used a Pikachu as a permanent team member once and that was in Diamond. I chose to evolve him because I like Raichu more and I wanted the stat boost. Normally when I catch Pikachu/Raichu it’s just for the dex entry.

I never evolve Pikachu, because the one I grew up watching didn’t want to evolve and because I like Pikachu better than Raichu.
Always gets a spot on my team; in Lets Go Pikachu I finished the game with a team of 6 Pikachu only
The only time I found him to be too squishy to make it through no matter how overleveled was Scarlet and Violet and i ended up finishing the game with a Bellibolt
I slightly prefer to have raichu on my team, but pikachu with a light ball is good too.

Raichu was actually one of my favorites, just based on the sprite in PkMn Blue.

Also definitely Raichu is better. I’m not a kid from pallet town to beat my elite 4 with a pikachu

I catch multiple to have Pikas and Rais in my games. In yellow I kept it a Pika because I always imagined I was playing as Ash
Played through Yellow on the Dodrio Saturday, flickering be damned. Had planned to use Light Ball Pikachu in Stadium 2 Poke Cup for the first time since possibly forever, teach it surf via R2 Stadium 1 Prime Cup. Didn’t reset the Yellowchu and it has trash speed so that won’t happen. Playthrough did produce an excellent lv 55 Gyarados and lv 50 Arcanine, only took 40 Magikarps to get one with a few near perfect DV’s. Thank god for the color case and Missingno master balls.
I’ve never played any of the Pokémon games.

The option “No, i caught it but it wasn’t on my team so i didn’t need to evolve it” is missing 
Evolve in Gen 1 then dump as soon as Jolteon, Electabuzz, Electrode or Zapdos are available (whichever I am feeling like going with on that play-through). I’ve even subbed out for Magneton before in Gen 3 once it gets it’s steel secondary typing.
I only ever catch a Pikachu in Gen 1 because it’s the only electric type for a while and I like the coverage. If not for that I wouldn’t even bother given the low % encounter rate in the Viridian Forest which is just a pain.
