Do these Spanish/Portuguese Torchics exist? (BW Legendary Treasures, 25th Anniversary Jumbo, XY Promo)

Hello,

Looking for some help in confirming/disproving the existance of a few Torchic cards. My guess is that none of them exist but I would like y’all to look before I cross them off my list.

Portuguese Legendary Treasures (Radiant Collection) Torchic:

I have this screenshot:

I had suspected that this was just a TCG Online asset that was never printed as all my research told me that we only have Legendary Treasures/Shiny Collection in English, Japanese, and Korean.

However, some doubt has come up in my mind.

First, I found this, a CGC Population report on “Legendary Treasures - Portuguese.” It shows that 4 cards have been graded, the Tepig line and Virizion.

Next, I briefly saw a listing on ligapokemon (Brazil’s version of TCGplayer/Cardmarket) for this exact card in Portuguese. A few days later, when I went back to investigate, it was gone (sold or taken down). Further investigation has shown me that there are several listings on ligapokemon for Legendary Treasures cards in Portuguese. I have had no luck with sellers responding to me.

Spanish 25th Anniversary Jumbo Torchic

I own copies of the Jumbo Torchic in English, German, Italian, and French. I have also confirmed that the Portuguese version exists (but I sadly have no Portuguese middleman…).

I have found no sign of the Spanish version of this existing. I find it extremely odd that it was released in EVERY western language at the time other than Spanish which is why I’m still have some doubt about this not existing.

In English, these came out of the first partner pack. I have been told that the Italian ones were distributed at GameStop in Italy, but I have no way to verify that. No clue about their origin in any other language.

Spanish and Portuguese Torchic XY37 Promo

Once again, I have found images of these which I suspect to be TCG Online assets. However, this promo was distributed in every other western language as well as Japanese + Korean (which I still need if anyone has it!!! Would pay finder’s fee!!!) which leaves me wondering if they exist in Spanish and Portuguese… why would they leave those two languages out? I’m the most skeptical about this one existing.

Thanks all!

Legendary Treasures definitely did not release in any other language than English, the reason for it being that starting with XY the release dates were harmonized internationally, so to make that happen one expansion had to be skipped in all other languages. The entries in the CGC POP report and the listings on Ligapokemon are probably mislabels.

That’s my guess as well. CGC being clowns once again…

  1. Legendary Treasures was only released in English, and Shiny Collection in Japanese and Korean.
  2. The First Partner 25th Anniversary Set of jumbos were released in English, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese (and the 25-Pikachu stamps of the Portuguese ones were non-holo, unlike the other languages). So it’s indeed not released in Spanish a.f.a.i.k.

Both of these also have a Pikachu in the same set, hence why I know with ~99.5% certainty.

As for the XY37 Torchic, the only pictures I’ve been able to find are similar Spanish stock images. I’ve also looked for the XY36 Treecko and XY38 Mudkip, since they were released in the same Hoenn Collection boxes:

And I couldn’t find any of these for sale in Spanish or Portuguese on CardMarket; eBay.es; nor MercadoLivre.com.br (and Frikea.es is apparently not selling anymore..)

FWIW, promos have always been rather random regarding which language they’re released in.. To go over the Pikachu promos for the EX; DP; HGSS; BW; and XY eras (some of these also have more than one -holo/stamp- variation in their respective languages, but let’s ignore that for now):

  • 012 promo: English, Japanese, Italian
  • 035 promo: English, Japanese
  • DP16 promo: English, Japanese, German, French
  • HGSS03 promo: English, Japanese, French, Italian
  • BW54 promo: English, Japanese, Italian
  • XY84 promo: English, Japanese, German, French, Portuguese, Korean
  • XY89 promo: English, Japanese, Korean
  • XY95 promo: English, Japanese, French, Portuguese
  • XY124 promo: English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean
  • XY174 promo: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Russian (I’m still very surprised this one is released in all those languages, but not in Japanese.. :face_with_spiral_eyes: )

So yeah.. Prior to the SM era, there are a lot of examples of “why would they leave these languages out?” for promos.

Anyway, although I’m not 100% sure about the XY37 one, I think none of the cards you were asking about exist until proven otherwise.

Greetz,
