This is all hush hush until we’re rich though. The documentary is clearly desinformatzia; pokemafia is as real as mutable grading standards and shyll byddyng. ![]()
Can you post link? I want to watch
Wow, do you think so? I mean, I know these companies have a ton of money, but still, if they’re buying all of their cards at over 20x the market price, wouldn’t it make it harder for them to break even? Just seems to me that a company like that would want to buy the cards as cheap as possible to make the most profit.
Ultimately I’m just spitballing, but these sorts of financial institutions have a mind boggling amount of capital that they can use to sway markets. You and I would want to buy things low, but we’re not buying with the intent of turning our purchase into a roulette prize.
Consistent Record breaking prices gets more and more people riled up, more willing to drop a bunch of money at the mere chance of striking it rich.
But again, I’m being slightly conspiratorial.
In theory, less desirable, low pop cards are both easy to control the market while simultaneously ensuring people are likely to sell the card back if they win it. Plus they can claim their buy price as the valuation for pumping the average expected pack ROI. It is an artificial ‘golden ticket’, that you can really only redeem at their company. It would not surprise me if a lot of these Lvl.X cards end up being used to prop up gambling. Just my 2 cents.
They wouldn’t be doing this if they thought there was any real risk that they be shut down or the market collapse tomorrow.
To us!

This. The major players in this space are soaking up inventory by paying as much as possible and turning slabbed cards into casino tokens.
Its not some great in depth piece but still had some interesting thing I had never heard prior that are happening in JP.
there were sales of that ~20-25k around june i think
“low poop”
I came across this ig story from one of the top bidders. Idk where these guys came from. Bro could’ve bought the entire set in PSA 10 a year ago for less than half of what this misdreavus sold for.
that is a ceo… of something i think ![]()
So what you’re telling me is there are guys like these who will pay $400k for each of my cards. Sounds like early retirement!
Why is that the most expensive Mewtwo ever when Expedition and 1st ed base exist ![]()
We call this “dumb money” where I’m from
I don’t mean this too pejoratively, but the card itself is secondary to owning something exclusive. You take your favorite pokemon then try to find the lowest pop card of it that you can read, so you get the little ego boost of owning it. And tbh I can totally understand that sentiment.
Is there a source for the % of purchases being sold back?
That number is so blatant, though expected, that it’s all just a front for unregulated gambling.
This guy just popped a month ago btw. His name is Samuel Ohev-Zion. Did a bit of research on him, he’s the CEO of a mobile phone company.
And based on the way he talks, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s starting his own digital rips platform and acquiring grails for it - or, more likely - he has ties to Coinbase and is one of the “vendors” buying cards on their behalf.

This is not a Power Packs specific figure, but everything i’ve seen points to 80-90% ballpark.
“Onchain gacha processes hundreds of millions of dollars in collectibles volume a month, but keeps only a fraction as revenue. Collector Crypt, Courtyard, Phygitals, Beezie, and Monster recorded $284.3 million of gross gacha activity in July 2026 and returned $249.4 million to consumers through buybacks, leaving $34.9 million of revenue after buybacks.”
