I’ve been monitoring the Grey Felt Hat Pikachu for awhile now because it was, from what I could tell, the most graded TCG card and I expected it to be the first to cross 100k graded copies, but the 2025 McDonald’s Pikachu card just overtook it today and is expected to cross the PSA milestone tomorrow.
The speed at which this card rocketed up the graded charts is insane. All I can do is feel bad for the PSA employees who are probably sick of this card now.
What are your thoughts on this milestone and this card? Is there really that much profit to be made grading these cards and selling the PSA 10s for $100? To me it feels like a massive waste of money all around and I can’t understand why anyone would grade this card.

I posted this one day early because I might not be able to post tomorrow. If I free up, I’ll come post an updated screenshot.
Edit: It did cross 100k yesterday midday. Thanks to @Frosty.Puppy for noticing.
I’m sure a good chunk of them are just stuck getting graded due to the long backlogs.
For example I sent 20 thru bulk after getting them when they were selling for like $350 as a 10. Didn’t want to pay up to rush grade them. But they are stuck in the pipeline now.
Today wouldn’t be worth sending but have to imagine a lot of others are in a similar spot as me but with much higher quantity of them.
Oh nice! Timing of this post is perfect then! My app pulls the data everyday at 12:01AM, so we are a few hours away from my refresh. Thanks for sharing the milestone!
A 90% gem rate at that scale is pretty absurd but I guess it’s jpn and non holo so maybe not lol Who is absorbing this many cards though? Is it dealers flipping to dealers?
I think Van Gogh’s popularity will last since it’s rather unique. This burgerchu has meh art and is really not notable in the slightest. McDonald’s, who really cares?
Hope the holders all get burnt like a McDonald’s patty.
What?! The art is great! A cute Pikachu in McDonald’s, reaching for a burger, with the iconic orange HiC. I get disliking the previous McDonald’s crazes, where the cards were common reprints, but this is a thoughtful release. Just like with Van Gogh Pikachu, don’t let the lowest denominator dictate the appreciation of a cards artwork.
This gotta be satire. As someone who doesn’t have, never wanted, and never intends to buy one (so largely impartial), the burger chu is a great card. Simple, clean, cute, and relatively rare in that it actually depicts a Pokémon interacting with the other brand’s product
Nah, I really don’t see the appeal. Taking out Van Gogh, I don’t think it can compare to most of the Worlds/Championship/PC Pikachu promos. And maybe unpopular opinion, but it’s not even comparable to the illustration winner promos.
I remember buying the holo McDonald’s Collection 2021 Pikachu card for 45 bucks in the crazy market at the time, so I’ll take this Japanese McDonald’s Pikachu with actual unique artwork any day of the week at the current 25-30 USD prices.
I finally bit the bullet and got a graded copy haha… I feel like it will continue to slide lower, but it’s neat art. I can’t decide if it’s infamy (from the botched release to grading tsunami) makes me want to own it more or less lol - at the very least it will have an interesting story behind it…
