Crazy Market

Journey together, while being a good set, isn’t grabbing the markets attention as much as I thought it would, which I think has something to do with improved pull rates along with normal release day crash.

It’s a lot easier than usual to pull SIR’s and IR’s now. I can’t count how many times a SIR was pulled in one of chrispytcg’s stream, and Lillies Clefairy SIR was pulled at least more than 8 times in the entire stream. Prices could also continue to crash due to destined rivals, a much more hyped up set.

Interested to see where this goes, and if these exceeded pull rates will work.

My “local chap” used to sell vintage games and toys with only a small selection of cards. He used to ask me for advice because he wasn’t a fan of the TCG, didn’t understand it and had no passion for it.

Now it is the majority of his business, takes up the majority of his premises and is what he spends the majority of his time on. He’s not happy about it, but the money must be followed and he has a family to feed and house.

You should go to actual pull rate videos if you want to know whether or not there are changes. And a decent sample size too, not just what you felt or observed anecdotally.

TCGPlayer has reported that there is no change to SIR pull rates though Double Rares and IRs have increased - and those probably did only because ACE Specs were removed.

Furthermore you need to look at how many cards there are in each rarity for each set. Journey Together is a tiny set compared to most modern sets so even if pull rates stayed the same, there will be more Lille’s Clefairy SIRs than Durant ex SIRs from Surging Sparks.

I’ve been looking at pull rate videos a lot and also only Double rares replaced ACE SPECS, not IR’s, which still showed some increase.
I’ve look at videos with minimum sample size over 1000 and up to 4000 (not the entire opening, just a summary for 4000), and they do say that SIR’s were still the same, so I apologize for that. I still factored in the small amount of cards and it still lead me to this conclusion:

Journey Together still did worse than most people thought it would. Everyone thought lillie would make this set go up along with N, and I posted on the forum saying (and you’ll probably find this message months earlier) that N and lillie are really NICHE fanbase. Most pokemon collectors have no idea who they are unless they watched sun and moon or became a big fan when sun and moon sets came out.

I know how to make a survey don’t worry.

Been noticing base isn’t really moving, especially Shadowless or anything other than a zard.

Also, strangely, there are very few PSA 9 Shadowless holos on eBay or other auction houses (there used to be a few each week).

Not complaining as I still have sets to finish, just an observation.

Vintage (especially base) haven’t been moving for quite some time. The only things moving right now is Middle era and modern cards. Also applies to japanese vintage (good time to buy!)

I have been trying to get a PSA9 copy of First Edition base set Bulbasaur for months now with now luck and everybody wantin 2-3 times what they were selling for last year. So at least some base set cards are going up.

Mike

1st Edition Base has been moving before the boom, and continues to move. I’ve had constant sales and raised prices on relists.

I think hes talking about unlimited and shadowless.

Ah could be as I have noticed all first edition stuff is going up. If anybody has a reasonably priced Bulbasaur in PSA9 let me know.. I need it to complete the three evolution set. Luckily got Venasaur late last year before the crazy price increases.

MIke

Indeed but they are minor increases compared to other sets.

PSA 9 1st edition zapdos has gone from 1.1k to 1.3k

Blastoise 1st ed has made nice gains though.

Unlimited and Shadowless are lagging pretty hard.

Yes Blastoise has gone up.. I picked one up few months back for just over 4K (PSA9) and its been selling for close to 5500-6000 recently.

The Mario and Luigi Pikachu and a lot of Ponchos are also exploding. A Mario Pikachu sold for 10K (PSA10)

Mike

Blastoise in particular I’ve had to raise the price twice. Glad he is finally getting some respect! :energywater:

Lots of increases in 1st Ed base 9s. I bought most of mine in 2023 and some have doubled, if not increased by 75% since then.

I still dont understand shadowless charizard psa9 price

Ive always felt that shadowless cards were undervalued
Maybe the market just doesnt care about shadowless

Base set 2 psa 10 worth potentially 2x shadowless psa 9 is borderline criminal. The psa10 pop is extremely low so you would think it would help price
