Comment a Pokemon and a move they should be able to learn

Thread title stolen from @davie’s thread on the opposite side. Comment a Pokemon w/ a move they shouldn’t be able to learn

Vent your frustrations! Here is one of mine:

Pokemon: Malamar
Move: Psycho Boost

“It wields the most compelling hypnotic powers of any Pokémon, and it forces others to do whatever it wants.” The most compelling hypnotic powers. And it has the Contrary ability. And it would not be overpowered in any way, shape or form even if it got the move. :expressionless:

Previously I would say Polteageist deserved Scald, but they have just taken that move away from every Pokémon and made it Volcanion’s signature move. Now I need another easy one.

Now I’d say give Snorlax Slack Off. Power creep has probably made room for a Pokémon as stalwart as Snorlax to get a recovery move without being broken. Slack Off Snorlax has been a fantasy for generations, I believe.

Hard agree, Slack Off on Snorlax could have happened in Gen 4 and it still wouldn’t be broken. Way overdue.

The fact that Dragapult can’t learn Shadow Claw has always irked me. Its geared more towards Attack but only gets Shadow Ball. Yes, I know it gets Phantom Force, but that’s over 2 turns so Shadow Claw would still be significantly better.

Hi. This is Tinkaton;

Tinkaton has a really big hammer.

Here are Tinkaton’s Pokédex entries from Scarlet & Violet;

“This intelligent Pokémon has a very daring disposition. It knocks rocks into the sky with its hammer, aiming for flying Corviknight.”

“The hammer tops 220 pounds, yet it gets swung around easily by Tinkaton as it steals whatever it pleases and carries its plunder back home.”

You might say Tinkaton’s hammer is its most defining feature - so prominent, in fact, that it blocks your view of opposing Pokémon in battle.

Its signature attack is called Gigaton Hammer. It is described as follows;

“The user swings its whole body around to attack with its huge hammer. This move can’t be used twice in a row.”

I cannot stress enough how important Tinkatuff’s hammer is. Tinkatuff’s identity is its giant hammer. I really want to hammer that point home.

Hammer.

H A M M E R.

So can somebody please explain to me why it does not learn Wood Hammer? What kind of sick and twisted mind is responsible for this omission? To what insane and incomprehensible purpose was this decision made? Why must Game Freak torture me like this!? What did I do to wrong them!? Someone please make it stop!!!

I was always upset Golbat couldn’t learn fly in gen 1. Cmon, it’s a 5 foot tall 120 pound bat. But a 4 pound pidgey can fly me all around creation? Not buying it. And Dodrio can learn fly? It doesn’t even have wings!

It took them 10 years, 7 months and 1 day to figure this out. :skull_and_crossbones: :skull_and_crossbones:

It couldn’t learn it in Gen 2 either, and yet somehow, Lance’s Aerodactyl had it in the Gen 2 games.

Aerodactyl would have been so much better in the early gens if it were actually able to use a legitimately good STAB move.

@Llyrwenne Easily one of my favorite Gen 9 Pokemon. Such a great design.

I know I’ve mentioned this before but Dodrio’s lack of High Jump Kick is perhaps the biggest movepool crime.

Literally any water-type move. :upside_down_face:

Magikarp can only learn Splash (Normal), Tackle (Normal), and Flail (Normal) across most gens. The only gen that Magikarp can learn a non-normal-type move is in Sword/Shield, and that is by TM (Bounce - Flying) or TR (Hydro Pump - Water).

I know that Magikarp is supposedly the most useless Pokemon ever, but come on! It’s a fish! :ocean: :fish:
