CGC Grading

I had this concern too, but to answer your question, yes they do. The CGC slab is the exact height and width of PSA slabs, but with rounded edges. The CGC holders also fit into PSA slab guards if you are familiar with those.

Is there a CGC pop report somewhere for Pokémon TCG cards?

Hopefully, but I’m curious if it’ll be fused with the comic-census.

Start at 5:20 if you dont want to watch full video.

Can anyone explain how this would of happened? Something went wrong in sealing process?

Ouch… I’m sure they’ll take care of this for him. Kinda crappy still.

Yeah, I’m sure they will, and hope its a one off type thing.

Seeing that makes me wonder… how good are CGC cases in terms of being tamper-proof? Does tampering create frosting etc. & will one be able to notice a tampered case easily?

There’s been over 20,000 cards submitted already and it’s the first we’re seeing of that sealing error. Definitely a one off. Shitty for sure that QA missed that but it will get fixed and he’ll be comped.

True, but we haven’t seen this from any other grading company? Ones that have been around for decades now.

I’m sure it’ll be addressed, and just some gowing pains. Still a bit concerning.

Well, let’s be honest. How do we think PSA would have fared if everyone was recording their first submissions in 1999 on video? Lol I’m sure there were tons and tons of QA mistakes back then. Doesn’t forgive this cgc gaffe in 2020 though,I agree

Every card CGC grades is imaged in holder, and those images can be seen by anyone with the certification number.

Yea, but unfortunately in todays market where you already have psa and beckett heavily established, a newcomer will be held to the same standard nonetheless. If there starts to be any doubt that their slabs could be tampered with without detection, it’d turn away many people, not just from grading but from buying already graded cgc cards. If that starts catching on, the price of cgc cards fall and they’re just another failed (at least for cards) grading company. A bit of a slippery slope fallacy but regardless they need to be very careful as these first impressions are really important and vidoes like that are really bad for a company trying to get its foothold in a very well established market.

That doesn’t help much, tamper-proof cases are still needed. People can sell their cards using the images from CGC, but ship out a case with a swapped card.

A cracked CGC case will show obvious signs of tampering. Submit a few cards or buy a cheap one on eBay and do some testing

The cases are tamper evident. This one was either not sealed or not sealed properly. People cannot swap cards as the cases will show damage. Additionally, those security images will still show that the card doesn’t match.

Take a look at what is required to crack their comic cases: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlIN_hThF-Y

It is very evident. And the pics will help because it will be very obvious if you are receiving a different card

10 day tier order. Sent to them on August 28th and received back graded today. Lightning turnaround for the non bulk tiers

God damn does the label look good with that Lord of Atlantis! I honestly hope cgc does catch on because their slabs looks way better than PSAs. Not to mention PSAs crap labels. Not just the aesthetic but the way they cram text into the box looks sooo bad when it stops fitting and they abbreviate everything. Not to mention the utterly laughable wait time PSA currently has.

It feels inevitable the more people submit to CGC the slower the turn around times will become. But who knows, maybe not?
