CGC Changed Their Grading Scale & Label

Anecdotally, almost every 9.5 I was watching or following on ebay has sold out or increased in price since the announcement. Time will tell whether this was smart or dumb

Yep, I’m enjoying the show.

Not just smart it was super smart. Uplifting the entire market overnight. The people are speaking with their wallets and that says everything.

Now I’m wondering if I should just sell my 9.5 Lugia or get them switched first…

bro you should be paid by cgc

In a market upturn it’s when to cash out. Do it now or pay the max grading fee those are the two choices. You’ll make a tidy sum even if not the max so be happy.

The new label reminds me of the MBA Authentic sleeves in PWCC lol

This could be psa or bgs making the moves. I enjoy seeing the clever moves being made by whoever’s doing them. I love numbers and patterns and this is very similar. I have this horrible feeling bgs is about to fumble the ball again. Won’t be long til we find out lol. I actually want them to get it right it’s good to have 3 choices.

Yeah I’m really trying to decide. I was actually trying to win the 10 on rare candy and was going to sell them regardless…

These are actually from PSA 9s that I cross graded and got CGC 9.5s on.

I was also going to send in my 9.5 Vaporeon

Ive just had a quick count and we are 3 and a half hours into the 21st of June over here in the UK and more 9.5s have sold than the whole of the 19th. The 20th was when they announced and the sales have been about 3 times the amount of the 19th. I expect today will be higher as it’s a full day of sales after announcement.

CGC better have cheaper subs than PSA if they want to compete with PSA. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Price changes are coming they hinted at that bit. They said there’s a lot to come. Your IG post made me feel sad for you. Why are subs so important to you personally?

It made you feel sad for me because I said it’s not too late for them to undo their change? :joy:

My entire collection has subgrades which I had to pay a 2x premium for. I’m not going to pay $5 for every card in my entire collection to switch to the new system, have my entire collection in limbo with the risk of something happening in transit, and be paying to lose value in the process. It just doesn’t make any sense.

Yes I felt your emotion reading that. Keep them as is as they are now limited editions. I’m only sending in a hand picked selection and I’m in no rush to do it.

The most devastating thing is that my collection is quite literally impossible to complete now. Since I collect Oddish and nobody grades Oddish the cards aren’t on the market for me to buy even if I wanted to.

I’m left with the choices of accept their new system and pay an assload up front to CGC, switch to PSA and pay an assload to crossgrade, or crack all of my cards and put them in binders for free. I love slabs so the last option is not one that I desire. I’m left with super shitty options.

I think I’m one of the few who truly paid double for subgrades because my individual cards are only worth submitting at bulk pricing, and every Oddish card is like that. To have your collection cost drop 50% overnight because of a change out of my control doesn’t make me want to support them at all and makes me super bitter. It’s a collector’s worst nightmare.

I’ve just had a look through your collection thread to see what sort of subs you go for it’s a real mix. Good news is you would get some 10 and 9.5 mint + because you have good subs. Only you can decide what to do. X

CGC is just trying to help. They knew you liked Oddish, so they’ve provided a bunch of Gloom for free.

Says more about the absurdity of grading than anything imo

BGS back track on their change. Let’s see if CGC will back track with the amount of complaints from people’s reactions so far.

Agreed. This could happen with any company and people would chase the free 10s and perceived increase in $$$.
