Cards that don't make sense in their respective sets

Similarly, I found holo Houndour from Discovery to be a bit of a bust, despite the fact that I actually love the artwork.

Would’ve been badass as Giovanni’s Mewtwo.

On the Rocket theme:

Rocket’s Hideout in Neo Revelation. There had not been any Dark Pokemon since Team Rocket. The card did foreshadow the next Epic set to come, Neo Destiny.

Dark Slowbro was a little odd. They’re supposed to be super dopey like Slowpoke. Hard to imagine one being evil.

Well what is it that bothers you about this? The classifications from the cards as to their types, areas found in games or what? I think these are cool, but I think more exist and hope to find them someday.

  • Lack of Venusaur and Blastoise in XY Evolutions comes immediately to mind…
  • But I agree with some mentioned before. Pikachu in Jungle makes sense, but why not Raichu as well. Why is it placed in Fossil…
  • Mr. Mine in Jungle also always confused me. Base Set would have made more sense…
  • Ditto and Hypno in Fossil also makes no sense… I would have placed Ditto in Base Set, and Hypno in Team Rocket (never mind, it is already part of the Team Rocket set)
  • Also, why are Ekans, Arbok and Weezing in Fossil (also, why is Koffing not in Fossil when Weezing is… I never get that they split up evolution lines in multiple sets, like Gastly and Haunter in Base Set without Gengar)

Evolutions removed my three favorite holo cards from the set: Blastoise, Venusaur and Alakazam

Really took away from my enjoyment of the set. I’ll never understand how you can do a 20th anniversary/Base Set reprint without the other 2 starter Pokemon…? I need a legitimate answer on that one from someone in corporate lol.
