Can you just take Pokemon cards on a plane? Limits?

Ok so a quick feedback :

-i had the two cases fully packed so around 270 slabs

-that weighted each 8kg so 16kg total, over the 5kg limit allowed for carry ons. But the small volume makes it look that it can’t be that heavy so they didn’t bother to weight it

-the case looks a bit like a bomb device so people will look you with sometime an interrogative face

-at the multiple scanners the reaction was the same everytime : they were intrigued but not overly alert and when asked to be opened when they realise it’s just : oh pokemon, nice, pikachu ! (Verbatim). Well just cardboard and plastic so absolutely no threat to security and they just let you seemlessly continue your journey with potentially millions of dollars

-the customs they were just yawning because too early in the morning and everything from my dirt bag luggage and looks seems to signals no interest for them

So everything went smooth and uneventful

US wise it also depends on your name and ethnicity.

I have a Muslim last name and have a 1/3 average since I was 14 of being stopped at an airport to be patted down, tested for gunpowder residue, or unnecessarily questioned. Generally only one happens, but twice I’ve had 1 and 2 happen.

Due to this I have never taken my collection (slabs or binders) on a plane as I don’t want some bs reason made up by a TSA agent if they decide they want my cards.

But that’s just me being careful based on the “service” I get in general

The funniest one was when I was flying from California to Vegas in flip flops, board shorts and a Hawaiian shirt in the summer and got tested for gunpowder residue and had to get my ID looked at and verified by 3 different TSA agents since they “weren’t sure” if it was legitimate.

Same here. My name is norwegian but as a half-white half-arabic who also looks exceedingly criminal, the rule of thumb since being 14 years old is that there will be at least one extra patting down at some point. I’ve had secret services too. The prospect of bringing ridiculously valuable cards with me has played in my mind more than once.

I work for an airline. Don’t get me started on TSA and their nonsense.
