The unrealistic expectations placed on James is hilarious. If you want the card, pay for it and don’t be high maintenance and act like the world revolves around you.
Bought a lot of cards with him in the past with no issues. One time it sent me a message to advise that a colored charizard with an Arita signature I won and paid can be not legit about the colored part. I asked for a refund with no issues.
It’s my experience with him.
All I can say as someone who has been consigning with him since the very beginning, and with huge respect for what they’ve done, is that customer service went from EXCELLENT for many years to quite literally non-existent in the last three months. They need more employees or less cards, or both, and soon.
Its totally understandable that he is swamped. I do hope that he gives me a response after the auction is won since I am an international buyer.
He actually makes update videos and cares about their customers. They will answer emails and see Instagram DM’s, they were hiring due to the increase in sales at some point. It is a small family business. Just need to be patient.
On the other side of it, I have called Probstein multiple times due to listing errors or canceled orders, zero responses or follow up. It seems like they might have one person checking emails. Sometimes it’s slow, sometimes it’s fast, sometimes you’ll get paid right away and sometimes not… lots of issues. ZandG is doing better.
So funny how different people’s experiences are. I’ve had zero issues with probstein on the phone or email or with auctions or payments.
What would anyone need to converse with a seller about anyway? Or what kind of complication? You click place bid, and when you win you click pay now. Not sure why I’d ever even need to message James in the first place unless I’m being a problem buyer
So you just make excuse for a seller to have absolutely zero customer service
There are a million reasons a buyer may need to contact a seller. I have thousands of sales on my ebay, is it close to his? No
But its not a reason to be so slow with shipping and literally not be able to talk to anyone, at all
Maybe you haver a personal relationship with him as your referring to him by name. Great, so your going to be bias here but if others want to share their experiences let them
Name a few other than asking for additional pictures even with 4K scans of the card, or because the buyer screwed something up and it needs fixing.
No I just know him from here and YouTube. I’ve bought tons of stuff from him over the years with zero issues.
from my end from items I sell here and there as someone who sells maybe 2-4 items per week
“hello I have bad experience with usps, can I choose a different shipping service? I’ll pay any difference”
“Hello it seems Ebay defaulted my old address, can i please change it” > suprisingly i get this one a lot. For whatever reasons buyers regularly have the wrong address populate and/or want a different name. I’ve had a lady get married and was anal about her old last name she wanted me to change it for her because she was scared about signature.
I’ve had buyers ask if i had more of a specific item. Asking about shipping dates because they wernt expecting my auction to pop up and they would be on vacation, ext. And im not even a big seller. I can only imagine a large sellers inbox
there needs to be give and take. I’ve never purchased from this seller, but part of the service is the actual customer service. You need to be ready and able to talk and respond to buyers questions kindly
That goes under the “buyer screwed up” category. It takes two seconds at checkout to double check that everything is correct.
Now with that said, sounds like you’re providing great customer service which is awesome! I reread my posts and they come across a little grouchier than intended.
He sells high volume and runs with a team that is fraction compared to other big sellers. You have cosigners requesting “one cent” price adjustments on their BIN items.. It sounds worse than working in retail
Just like any other service not exclusive to buying/selling pokemon, if you’re not satisfied go somewhere else, there’s plenty of options these days.
yes there are stupid buyers all the time but thats part of being a seller and having a business. I sold a graphics card that was in a water block. I made it very clear it’s for water cooling only and not to buy if you dont have experience with it
then i get this message:
it sucks… but it’s part of it. I was worried he would return it after a 7 day auction.. so I did everything to make him comfortable. Did I call him an idiot and say I will block him and sorry no refunds? no. I just dealt with it but thats why i have 100% feedback after 16 years of sales. It goes with the territory of being a seller.
Trust me though, compare to retail it’s a cake walk. But for any selling service you have to deal with customers. If they are getting big and have too much business then perhaps hire someone to do this all day. It would relive them tremendously and it seems they have the sales to justify a hire
The prophecy has been fulfilled! (This is zng’s e4 account)
you can get rid of most of the “customer service” work by just not responding to non-buyers, 99% of them won’t buy anyway even after you answer their question. obviously in your specific example you would have to work with that buyer if you don’t want to get a return.
i’ve been doing this for a while and i only really respond to someone if i think it will result in a sale (which is very rare) or i’ve overlooked something in the listing that i meant to include but forgot (which is also very rare)
Exactly! Too many people are just looking for social hour with sellers while browsing eBay
Question for those that have consigned with him, how was that experience?
I sent him 2 slabs that are currently in auction, but I haven’t heard from him or anyone on staff. Is that normal? Do they contact you once it’s paid for? I realize they’re super busy, but considering it’s my first time I’m a little nervous lol
Thank you in advance
proby charges a significant amount of shipping (some cards are 50 bux… lol) so he is making a larger % than it might appear
they will contact you about one week after the auction end. I cosigned with him three times with no problem.
