Buying cards from Japan, customs, and additional charges

I was wondering if anyone who has bought cards on ebay from Japan can tell me more about additional charges you might incur. How likely is it that you will get hit with additional charges and is there a range of how much you could get charged? It’s a single card by the way.

What country are you in?

United States

There’s no extra charges. Just the shipping and state sales tax if applicable. Basically the ebay checkout screen is all we pay

Thanks guys!

One thing to be aware of when buying from Japan-based eBay sellers is that plenty of them (not all, but a fair share) don’t actually have the stuff they are selling. They wait to get a successful bid, then try to buy the item at a considerably lower price on Yahoo Japan auctions. Often, these flippers are using product images lifted right off of the Yahoo auctions.

I’ve bought 20+ singles from Japan on eBay and have never had any additional charges

Never been hit with additional charges on Japanese purchases

US customs reserves the right to hit basically anything with customs fees especially the more expensive it is ( uncle sam wants their piece too) and shipping companies that broker the package through customs are subject to collecting them of the government’s behalf. It happens but it’s not common. They’re also sometimes required by us border and customs to collect fees because the shipper didn’t put the correct contents of the package or tariff code on the customs forms which makes it seem like it’s something else tariff due or brokerage had to waste time with it and wants their fees paid.
