More and more often, I’m having buyers ask me about condition of PSA 9 holos I’m selling. I always post 5-6 pictures of the card and they still ask if there are holo scratches, swirls etc. I understand asking for more pics and I am happy to provide more pics. But I don’t like responding about the condition of a graded card ( I still do though). That’s why I had it graded! So condition of the card is not a topic! If you want a flawless copy buy a gem mint 10?
When I personally buy graded cards I’ve asked for more close up pics, but I’ve never asked about the condition of a graded card.
How do y’all respond to these questions from eBay buyers? Thanks
Its ok to ask photos, but if they ask condition answer should be the same as the card label. I know some cards are labeled wrong and if its a 9 could be a 7 and vice versa but you know that already with the photos you upload.
To me, I feel like having detailed pictures of the card should be enough. Obviously as a seller you should review your graded cards for blatant errors, but if there aren’t any, I would let the grade speak for itself. That’s the point of professional grading, right?
Unfortunately in this age of crack-and-resubmit flippers you’re going to be getting a lot of these people. If you’ve already posted detailed pictures, my advice would be to ignore and move on. They won’t be the type of buyers you’re looking to deal with.
I agree with everything folks have posted here thus far. If you pull the cards and grade them yourself, for example, you should know even before sending it to PSA if it’s worth it or not nicks, silvering, centering, scratches etc. I don’t think most folks will send bad cards to be graded cause the value won’t be as high. When I get graded cards I check the pics carefully and then make a decision. I’ll only ask for additional pics if they only have one pic and it’s blurry. If the seller is confident with the grade and the pictures speak for themselves, there’s not much more to it.
The only time I ask questions about a graded card is when it’s graded a 5 or 6 but it isn’t apparent as to why it got that grade. I do this because sometimes PSA will give out the 5 EX or 6 EX-MT grade to cards with extremely minor bends or dents. I generally don’t want bent cards.
More often than not the damage is holo scratching that the sellers camera/scanner didn’t pick up. Other than that I never bother sellers unless it’s a really bad scan/picture.
Just look at the forum here the last few months. All the talk about strong/weak PSA cards and cards that shouldnt have this and that grade. This is imo but I feel like people are putting to much of there own feelings into what a grade should be even tho they payed for someone else to set the grade for them. When it comes to ebay Always post pictures of front and back so buyers can see
Somebody touched on it above. The people who request extra pictures and info on graded cards are not the type of people I want to sell my cards to. I’d rather cater to others who are in it just for the love of the game and not picky to a fault…which hurts the hobby.
If you have an adequate amount of images at various angles maybe, even if it wasn’t graded, I still wouldn’t say anything except that the item they are buying is clearly listed with images (and a description if you do so). You have done your part and THEY need to make a determination if the item is acceptable for them at the price point.
I would refrain from sending any further information because this just opens the item up to being returned and they will have more info for ebay side with them.
This world is more overpopulated than ever. Don’t feed the few that would be a problem. Wait for the person that won’t be
Statistically most people asking for additional photos/information are a waste of time. While I say that I still respond with additional photos on occasion, but most go nowhere. I recently had to block a buyer who asked questions, bought an item, paid, then cancelled. They repeated the same process a couple weeks later. I had to pay the Paypal return fee on both transactions. Literally had to pay money for someone to waste my time, thanks ebay!
You’d be surprised how many people list high dollar/high grade cards yet have pictures that are super fuzzy, dark, or at MySpace angles that don’t truly show what the front and back of the card looks like. It’s like they expect to sell a $1000 card with a photo taken from a Motorola Razr (the OG one). Getting a quality scanner is the single best thing you can do for getting cards sold without a lot of buyer questions regarding pictures.
I should have mentioned that as the standard; front and back image, at least for more valuable cards. It’s definitely more reasonable if someone asks when the seller didn’t provide photos.
The other thing that I’ve seen is that sellers write in their description that obviously the card was graded by a 3rd party any issues the buyer sees they can take it up with BGS or PSA. That saves hassle too cause it’s not like we can tell those companies what grades to give our cards lol. It’s up to those companies discretion.
