Burger King cards - perforated vs unperforated

Looking at the PSA registry, they separate perforated and unperforated (and no mention of perforation as well). Are they allowing trimmed cards in this case, or is there another reason they’d need the differentiation?

I think this was just in Rusty’s (TCA Gaming) video today. The perforated came in a sheet with other cards and you had to pull apart at the perforation. From my understanding from what rusty said is the unperforated came as a single with a toy, not attached to other cards. Give the video a watch and you’ll see the difference.

Here is the (timestamped 7:19) video of Rusty, which @trevcatchem was talking about in his comment:

Here an example of 3x3 sheets of these PokéTrivia Burger King cards, which are the perforated versions if you pull them apart:

The singles that were unperforated came with a toy(came remember the toy). They had a sold black plastic seal around the entire card that provided very little protection and made it super easy to bend when opening. This is a live listing but hopefully relevant enough: www.ebay.com/itm/114473585418

It is literally just a a black trashbag looking seal with no markings and almost no protection. It would be a nightmare trying to open these and find a specific card in mint condition.

To add on to Rusty’s post, I did some due diligence as I own some unperforated cards, from what I can tell there’s 3 variants 4 variants (thanks @quuador).

  • Perforated (US variant)
  • Perforated (Canadian variant)
This version has the PokeTrivia removed, has English/French text
  • Perforated (German variant)
Also has PokeTrivia removed, has German text
  • Unperforated (US variant)
If anyone has seen a unperforated outside US, feel free to correct this*
*W**ell, if anyone does have one to show, hopefully it contains noticeable differences or has a pack/product opening to verify it’s untrimmed

For those wondering if you can trim a perforated (US variant) to make it seem like a unperforated, you can’t. Look at the bottom left for unperforated, the blue reaches to the edges of the card, whereas the perforated does not.

In addition to the perforated sheets and sealed black bags, they also come in these sealed toy bags. Here’s a unboxing I found (not mine). Similar to the black bags, they have little to no protection and often come bent/creased.

There are also German perforated versions, which just like the Canadian versions has the PokéTrivia removed. @joponnes showed it on his IG last week coincidentally:

Dope. Thanks for this, do you know if unperforated versions exists outside of the US variant? From the post, it seems that the other versions are all perforated.

No idea. Before @joponnes posted his German Grimer/Muk on IG I wasn’t even aware these were released outside of English tbh. Maybe he can shed some light on whether unperforated versions exist outside of the English ones?

Ah thanks. I just read his IG post. He has also not seen a unperforated variant outside US.

Thanks for sharing this. I never knew these sheets existed. I have an unperforated card and simply assumed it was trimmed.

Another variant to add to the collection list :slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately like you perhaps already read in my post i know very little extra info of them, but all the non english cards i’ve seen in other people’s collections too have been perforated so i really doubt that non perforated non english cards exist. Either that or they are extremely rare

I may have new information about this since i bought a canadian muk that at least in listing photos looks like unperforated one so if that’s true they indeed exist. Unfortunately, it will arrive in my US mailbox so i have no idea how long it’ll take until i get it in my hands to verify it. I doubt anyone would trim the perforated ones so i do believe it really is an unperforated single promo but i’ll update this when i get better photos of it once it’s listed in the mailbox. I’ll attach the listing photo for everyone else to judge it

I think it’s probably real and the unperforated Canadian versions exist. I was looking pretty closely at the picture to find any discernable differences and I think I spotted it. The unperforated version incorrectly states “Weight/Hauteur” instead of “Weight/Poids”. If what I spotted is correct, then people can’t trim it and pass it off as unperforated thanks to this text mistake they made (if people know what to look out for).

Check out these Bulbapedia links too, another example:

Damn, you are right! I concentrated so hard on the edges that i completely missed that! (Plus my french isn’t really on point, i can basically say only “Vous avez les lèvres comme du foie meurtri” which roughly translates into “your lips are like wet liver”) But that indeed makes it easier to spot the real ones and confirmes that they are real thing
