Best way to offload a bunch of junk slabs?

Because for every junk slab I have left there are 1-2 other ones that sold for dumb amounts. Now I’m left with the junkier half of the junk

Just because people want things doesn’t mean that the externalities of that decision shouldn’t be factored in. I say this knowing full well exactly what space and hobby I am in but nevertheless it needs to be said.

It already uses excessive plastic, but balancing an individual’s desire to encase a worthless card in cheap plastic or to chase temporary and impermanent demand with the forever cost to the environment should come under further scrutiny. As I’ve said before cuts have to come across our entire society. In any case, the true cost of plastic has always been subsidized so in reality it’s not actually cheap.

And in the end we end up with the predicament in the title except it’s not just one person but there are millions of cards getting slabbed with everyone trying to offload onto the ignorant.

Wait what are the rules with PWCC auctions and cheaper stuff? I assumed no $3 fee if direct to auction but if that’s not the case I may have to rethink some things!

The $3 fee is for any slab $15 or under. They are disincentivizing cheap/junk slabs. Honestly it’s not that crazy of a policy. However the $15 and especially $30 fee for boxes is pretty rough for modern Japanese boxes.

Give them away to kids at Worlds.

I gave away over $1000 worth of GS Greninjas last year.

Hey, that’s my favorite full art :joy:. I’m not event joking, I love that card!

If you’ve got any trapinch cards in there, I could probably take them off your hands at the next event we meet up at…

I’m curious what they will offer for the junk slabs lol

Probably $5 toward a digital game or $1 cash

Just send it all to probstein and forget about it. Why pay extra fees to z&g or pwcc?

Location plays a big role to where someone will send their cards for consignment.

For example:

  • Pacific NW → PWCC
  • SW → Z&G
  • NE → Probstein
  • S → Rusty
  • MW → smpratte → PWCC

If the payout is fairly similar, I would rather choose a closer consigner to reduce the risk of the package getting lost/stolen. And some people prefer supporting smaller/local business and/or community members rather than massive shops.

The payout is night and day though for cheap cards. If all these slabs sell for $10 each, z&g will take $5 immediately and pwcc will take $3 immediately before any normal fees. Probstein doesn’t take anything.

What about Kijiji if you’re in Canada?
Alternatively FB market. Just thinking that local sales prevent fees

Are you originally from Canada too? That’s kind of a hidden Canadian secret

That’s a good point. I don’t own or sell $10 slabs, so I’m less familiar with those ultra-low consignments.
