I’m trying to make a deal with someone who lives in Australia and they are worried that they are going to have to pay a lot in customs import fees. I am from the US. Can anyone help me out with what the import fees are in Australia.

A goods and services tax of 10% is now charged for overseas purchases.
If the sale was through ebay, ebay will add the import tax to the total bill and there’s nothing the seller can do.
If the sale was through private messages and the seller earns less than 75k aud from sales to Australia residents they do not have to register for gst. Meaning they dont have to collect it and remit to the Tax Office.
The exception to the above rule is if the package is worth more than $1,000 aud. The ATO will charge an import fee of $85 aud and slap on gst and customs duty tax.

Don’t declare the real value of what you’re sending.
I´d be careful with stating things like that budget, that can also go in the wrong direction.
