I really like the look of a neo discovery kabutops but couldn’t give a rats ass about the card as a whole. Give me a PSA 10 1st ed. and I’d sooner use it as a door stop than I would add it to my collection.
You got a similar example?

I don’t understand what you mean.
“You really like the look of the card but don’t care about the card as a whole” this makes no sense.
I have a solution for this kind of problem. Buy a psa 10 1st edition then crack out the card. Use a sharp knife to cut out the art portion to put in your wallet. Use the rest of the card and broken case for door stop.
Em, no.
I think maybe they mean something like “just saying great artwork, but don’t care if I have it or not.”
If that’s the case. Pretty random. But yes I can give you a dozen examples. One being Light Wigglytuff, amazing art. Do i want a psa 10 copy. Not particularly.
What
I love this artwork!
Do I care about the card as a whole?
No, lol it’s fake.
Do I want it in a PSA 10?
Obviously!
Is this a weird thread?
Yup!
I fuking LOVE breathing oxygen, never really been to passionate about O2 molecules tho
Used to think this way with album art but not wanting the vinyl because I already own it on CD. Nowadays… just see my ebay.
why would you use it as a doorstop when you could just list it on ebay?
If only you had a means to trade the card away.
Based on all the comments above, maybe it’s best to clarify a bit what you mean, @kmw . One thing is clear, you’ve got your answer to:
Which seems to be a pretty clearly ‘no’.
I have the feeling you mean what’s stated by @djgigabyte : you like the artwork of a card, but not its card design. Some people hate the Legendary Foil Reverse Foils, some hate the E-series borders, etc., but they might still like the artwork of the card itself.
I assume you’re talking about something similar? You like the artwork of the Neo Discovery Kabutops, but you’d rather have just that artwork hanging on the wall than to own the card containing that artwork? Does this mean you don’t like the design of the WotC era Pokémon cards in general, or the fact that Kabutops is a Water-type in Neo Discovery instead of a Fighting-type?
Greetz,
Quuador
I sort of felt this way about the e-series cards as I didn’t like their card design as a whole, as the only card from the sets I had to get was of course Dragonite. The rest I don’t really care to own as I am not a big fan. Still would get them if they were for a reasonable price but wouldn’t pay a bunch for cards that I myself don’t really like, unless I thought they would be a great investment for the future.
I understand what you mean, but your comments are hyperbolic. It would be clearer if you had expressed yourself in a mild way.
I like many items but only desire to own my favorite.
If you like the art then technically like the medium it’s on.
I wish I could tear all the art off my prints and have them exist as a hologram inside my mind–weirdest thread ever
Give me e-Series artwork in a WOTC Base layout and I’d be in heaven.
Yeah if we’re talking card layout I completely agree. I think Gen 1-3 had a beautiful card layout. E-series took a while for me to get used to, but after all these years I can finally embrace it.
To me Gen 4-8 still feels…tacky in a way. I’m not really sure what it is. I cannot deny that a lot of the art is great. But like @kpod said, I think I’d like the more modern cards better if they had one of the earlier card layouts.
Haha amen to that!
