Anyone else NOT excited for Sword/Shield?

And that’s fine, but that doesn’t line up with your original argument mate.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to defend the issue. If I had a choice, of course I’d want all of them included.

But let’s be realistic, how many Pokémon are actually actively used by the majority of the fan base?

No you are not alone to NOT be excited for Sword / shield.
I was waiting for a new gameplay like in Zelda, with more liberties, more space…
Plus I don’t like most of the new Pokémon’s design and I am absolutely not interested in this new giant Pokémon mode.
Pokémon X & Y was a really cool game, ROSA too.
But since Sun & Moon, I feel like Gamefreak is doing crap.

What is team yell?! Not sure about this new addition, got nothing on team rocket!!

I thought some of the variants were solid, but team yell sounds lame.

Betting right now that as an easteregg, one grunt will have all five scream-promo Pokemon in his team.

Such a missed opportunity though to call them Team Scream for the rhyme
and have literally all of them use only those five Pokemon.

Galarian Weezing has a terrific typing, and Obstagoon looks awesome. I just hope that in Obstagoon’s case, it isn’t another situation where the Pokemon has a great design but terrible stats.

Ive heard people saying Galarian weezing is a bong. To me they just look Victorian with top hats.

Remember Gary’s cheer squad?

They’re basically the same, but for the new rival Marnie.
And of course they’ve got nothing on Team Rocket, nobody ever had and nobody ever will!

To some people, everything is a bong. :relieved:

Team “YELL”… Galarian Wheezing… WHYYYYYYYYYY

TPC: we’re going to try something new for this generation, including continuing with regional forms that everyone loved.

Everyone: why isn’t this fucking generation 1 again? Why can’t you make everything exactly the same as we had generations ago!!!11!!!

Oh come on.

There’s plenty to not like about Sword & Shield, but the nods to the English hooligans and the industrial revolution are no make or break topics to worry about when the entire setting of the game is inspired by England itself, right?

Or did Sun & Moon had too much tropical influences as well?

I’m personally just excited for a new generation of Pokémon, especially once they hit the TCG. There are always Pokémon we like more than others, and I agree gen 1 remains the best no matter what they’ll add. Still, some of the Pokémon aren’t too bad. I personally really like the design of the new legendary Pokémon with the sword (the one with the shield not so much though):

And although the Galarian Weezing is a bit odd (for anyone who hadn’t seen the pictures yet like me when it was mentioned above, here’s one), it’s still something new. Last season we had Alolan Island variations. And now apparently some kind of industrial/polluted variations. (Wasn’t Weezing already kinda a polluted Pokémon of itself, though. )

The only thing I don’t like thus far are some of the English names… In gen 7 we had Wishiwashi, and now we have Rolycoly and Impidimp from the just 15 Pokémon revealed thus far for gen 8… Ah well…

But to be more on-topic: I couldn’t care less about the game, haha. I never played any of the Pokémon games and personally primarily care for the anime and TCG.

Greetz,

People will say it’s a bong because they want to believe it’s a bong. It’s clearly not. They have top hats/steam pipes on their heads.

People are annoying.

I actually kind of love the fact that Team Yell are just a bunch of fanboys, didn’t expect something like that. It feels fresh, and it’s one of the only things from the past couple trailers that’s sparked some interest from me.

I’m still on the fence about whether to buy one of these - I’ve never skipped a gen but they haven’t really sold me on it yet.

I’m pretty cool about almost everything.

But the Giant Pokemon thing just rubs me the wrong way. Unless they somehow tie in the episode where there actually WERE ancient giant Pokemon, I’m not interested in that aspect. Seems too farfetched for me.

Don’t forget the smoke-facial-hair! Glorious smoke facial hair to tie it all together.

Since the advent of Pokémon on 3DS, wishing an abundance of new mons for a full pokédex experience (excluding older ideas recycled) has progressively turned to shit. The largest pokédex went straight to the smallest in one generation.

The company have excused themselves for years as a result of limits holding data that I view now to be bullshit. It’s deadlines.

Inevitably, one can compare the limits to Switch (and PSP) titans Zelda/Oydssey/Monster Hunter/Octopath Traveler making there concern vague when those titles presumably had lower budgets and perhaps even more niche markets to work around and still not sacrifice expansive access.

The limitations don’t only apply on the cutback of monsters but also at it’s equally depressing tedious towns where Silent Hill has made better interactive capabilities.

Granted there is aspects of humane growth, mature and philosophic moments in some of S/M’s background characters stories but these are interesting more then the game you play making you wish you were playing there story being told to you. Instead you wail through monotonous, dead-end trails of missed interaction oppertunities that other RPG’s could not survive on it’s own. JWitzz face gratingly red pilled to me Pokémon’s redundancy in stark contrast to other leading RPG’s that lead no excuse for lack of initiative meanwhile making the most happen..

Pokémon have gone long so far to the point of not having to care, it’s there decision. This is the same franchise that arrogantly turns cheek to opinons of outsiders like Uri Geller about what to change compared the growth potential of ideas in the multitudes if they had researchers to scan around communities. If this game wasn’t called Pokémon but something like Knack: Telefang, then noone would likely give a shit.

It’s my first time I’ve not held hands to a new gen and not having any fuck in stock left for there excuses. Noone should feel pressure believing empathy for them in getting the shit it deserves as this reaction is ironically the most satisfing and I even used to live next to the cathedral statue Impidimp is based on so the reveal made me pretty damn merry! Having JWitzz’s share of opinon Ditto, my take reflects E4’s black pill collecting philosophy in drawing the line in devotion, only getting what you like in Pokémon now applies even for games and generations. We have to see franchises we love and grow with, die a hero or live long to see them become a corporate subpar villain.

If any conciliation about National Dex being a niche for the benefit of doubt it may be only central at this upcoming release then it may get undone by the obvious Diamond & Pearl remakes coming based on the platform jump. I wonder how will this go forward in VGC?

If the mascots are based on the Sun and Moon chasing Norse wolves then thats smart canon if they link to the recent past gens but they don’t look appealing so it’s all about if the third member is Fenrir. 50/50 chance for fans of them that they’ll likely miss out on the Tag Team mechanic so spoons crossed like EX from 5th to 6th Gen it has potential to cross the bridge.

*EDIT* After opening ceremony I wonder what abyss card Pikarom was looking into. The Triple fairy TTGX looks like Yu-Gi-Oh’s Scapegoats.

Lastly I’m on the positive to Dynamax but for outside reasons as the excuse to finally merch collab with Godzilla or Evangelion. Perhaps Dark Charizard’s Nail Flick will make it into the games. Another aspect I want more, TCG moves turn into in game attacks.

I like the cake, I’ve wanted Xatu as a towering, fate manipulating totem.

Some typos and ‘there their’ mistakes, but overall a solid read. I can tell you like words.
