this was going to happen eventually with the ebay vault but the idea got killed with psa bought it. ebay is extremely buyer friendly and will do anything for a better buying experience which extra fees is basically opposite of. in contrast look at something like mercari which had no buyer fees for the longest while then they essentially changed it to just add the seller fee portion onto the buyer and charge no selling fees and the platform has basically turned into a joke ![]()
The brief eBay vault period was so fantastic!
ikr i sold so so much stuff through that thing ughhh shouldve really went ham didnt expect them to cut it off so soon ![]()
@tidaldreams unrelated but why do you always have a laughing emoji at the end of every response you have? lol
Per-item extended bidding would fix all of this. I hate having to watch auctions i’m participating in have zero activity for 2+ hours. There are 5,000 items in this weekly auction. If someone bids on a $0.5 sports card, my $2k bid on a pokemon card gets extended.
I highly recommend nobody bid on alt.xyz. It may be a good seller experience, but it’s the absolute worst buyer experience.
Bid → wait an hour → someone increases bid by $20 → bid again → wait an hour.
This, combined with my bids showing “outbid” when I am currently the winner to incentivize double-bidding, and the constant allegations of shill bidding and retracted bids (probably from shill bidders), makes it very questionable as a platform.
Do you expect users to set aside 3+ hours 2x a week even if they just want to bid on a single card? Why would anyone ever do that?
