A Thread of Thankful Things

Hello everyone,

My family almost got run off the road this evening from a crazy driver. Multiple times he almost ran us off, all the while my wife and baby were in the back. It was very scary and I’m really thankful we got out of there safely.

Pokemon is cool but I’ll tell ya, I sure wasn’t thinking about it when everything was happening.

So, I wanted to make this thread where we could share what we’re thankful for! It could be anything, Pokemon related or not

It could be being thankful for a discount on a card, thankful for family/friends, thankful for cooking a tough meal for the first time and it tasting pretty good. Whatever!

I’ll start. I’m really thankful for the safety and comfort of my home

What are you thankful for??

Hey, a good thread starter, but maybe not what I associate with this forum.
Most of my friends are dead now… road accidents, Ca, coronaries or self deletion… so a big win for me. I’ve got a wife who is an angel and more than I deserve, a few good self driven kids who make me feel ten feet tall and I have a robust attitude.
Life is good. but I’ve known this for years. So…

I figure we have a thread about non-Pokemon achievements, so why not have a thread about thankfulness? Could be Pokemon, could be something else

Hm. Im thankful for alot of things. Ive got a loving wife, and Im very lucky with friends and family lending a helping hand through life. The older I get the more thankful for the simple things becomes relevant. I think everyone realizes this at some point too.

Hmm I guess I am thankful to still be here, I am essentially living on borrowed time with the seriousness of my injuries and every new day I feel immense gratitude for experiencing it and try not to wonder how long I have but to enhoy each as it comes.

I am also thankful that this childrens cardboard collection provided me such fun and will later provide for others.

When I saw this thread earlier today, I wasn’t gonna post in it. I was honestly not too sure what to be thankful for specifically, except for standard things like I’m thankful for being healthy; for having a lovely family; great friends; enjoyable job with amazing colleagues; etc. (I’m still single though, so can’t say -yet :crossed_fingers:- that I’m thankful for my wife and/or kids.)

One thing that did came to mind, is that I’m thankful I was born in The Netherlands, which is a very safe country and I had both a great childhood, and still have a great job and living conditions today.

But after posting a reply in another thread just yet, I am very thankful we are all privileged enough to be able to enjoy this hobby to begin with. To quote me from another thread:

Not to mention the many people born or living in third world countries or war zones..

Greetz,
Quuador

Several people are thankful for the “businessmen” of Pokémon that allowed people to buy freakin’ houses by selling a few Pokémon cards they originally bought for $3

Well to this day I am thankful for one incident which saved me from a potential kidn*p, Yup my dumbness almost made my life that day and I really thank god for it. I rarely share about this incident, but this felt like a perfect thread to tell about it.

It did happen when I was in 8th grade of my schooling and I am about to go for a parade practice for our independence day. My house is in some renovation work, so I used to keep my bicycle at my grandma’s house which is 2 blocks away from us. The problem is there used to be an abandoned building with some empty space at a cut which joins these blocks. It doesn’t have clear vicinity from either ways of the road. That day I went to take my bicycle and started my way to school. When I was at that cut a woman came to me. She said that her little kid went into that goddamn building early morning to play and the street keeper (or guard) locked the gate. Now I look into this I still feel funny how I belived her story, dumb 8th grade me. I am almost ready to jump through the wall without knowing what awaits me at other end. But luckily for parades we must use a stitched pants and that tightness didn’t give me movement for a jump. I said sorry to her and went on bicycle feeling guilty that I can’t help her..

But surprise the next day in our newspaper there is a news regarding child kidnappers in our street and few were caught by the police and they put to be aware of them with the photos of caught people. And guess what?? That lady picture is in it. I immediately told the whole thing to my parents. My mom got scared as hell, told me to get aware of situations, and don’t simply believe what strangers say,

It’s a slap, a lesson to me also a big save and I am completely thankful for it. May be if I am in my regular tracks that day, Idk I may not be writing this thing here in this forum today..

I think for the first time in the forum I put a message apart from pokemon that happened in my life. Thanks for the thread @Paulkemon . This definitely made me remind once again that we are really thankful to have this life, and not to cry over not having something or other
