1st Edition Base set Blister Packs Tampering

Hi

I’m looking at buying some 1st Edition Base Set Blister Packs. My concern is how do I know if they’ve been tampered with.

The tip I’m aware of is if the flap has been pulled and not stuck to the pack, but that not 100% full proof.

Does anybody else some tipis/tricks to avoid being scammed?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Probably the best advice is just figure ALL packs/blisters have either been weighed or resealed. Don’t waste your money;) This is especially true if they’re 1st Ed Blisters.

I think that is the best advice, unfortunately.

I read that blisters were hard to weigh as the glue varied in pack? Any substance to this theory?

I imagine this could have potentially caused some error but not much… you can still tell the difference.

Maybe all packs are weighable but I can’t stress how difficult it would be to re-seal a blister back and not have it be 100% apparent.

Take a look at this photo where the plastic case has fallen off. Look at all the residue/junk on the “seam” of the plastic.

There is no way to reapply that case without it looking obviously tampered with.

An untampered with blister pack will look flawless and 100% crystal clear on the seam. If the glue s hazy, or there is junk in it then it is fishy.

I had a set of unlimited base blisters. Opened the Blastoise art that weighed 34.10 grams, while venusaur weighed 33.62 and zard 33.45. Blastoise pack did not contain a holo unfortunately. Small sample size

Thankyou everybody for your replies. I’ve agreed with the seller that I can inspect the blister and if there’s even the slightest thing wrong I can pull out.
