The premium is for the psa10 grade and them being removed from the full box set and sold separately.

Obviously, this is the case for most cards lol.

Nothing makes 1st ed base charizard rarer. It’s a set card. It has a large pop report because there is an insane amount of demand for one of the most popular pokemon from the most iconic set in the hobby. More pop up raw each year, more get graded each year. Do we really need to keep posting scarcity vs rarity videos?

Not really. If I bought $10-15 english cards and they graded as a PSA10 they might only be worth $50-80 bucks or maybe something like 5-10x its minty raw value for a popular promo. This one’s just harder to grade and it can go up in price at times to meet with collector demand since there aren’t that many people grading these niche japanese gift sets at the moment.

In short, if you just want to hype the card up so it gets some sort of higher pricepoint than it currently commands on ebay, have at it… Not even sure what you’re trying to argue. Shit, pay $2,000 for one if you think that’s a good investment.

Gradeable Quick starter cards are scarce. I can find more gradeable wotc holos than quick starters.

that’s it, end of discussion. you said they are not rare, although they’re as rare or even rarer as one of the most valuable card in the hobby. obviously demand blabla, but we’re not talking prices, we’re talking rarity - they are rare in psa10 condition. going back to the investment point, i do think they are a safe investment, unlike other japanese cards, these 5 are some of the better ones to have.

Are sealed boxes really that expensive these days? I have a few of them stored away, as they were always my favorite Japanese set. Found the vending sheets first, but the Red Green cards, even without the gloss, were the best.

First of all, I love these cards, I love the box they come in, and I love the Vending Series as a whole.

But may I just point out that at the moment the price ratio between box and the holos doesn’t seem to make any sense?

I feel like I have yet to see one of these boxes sell for over $1,000, yet it comes with the legendary bird trio, Scyther, and Master Ball holos guaranteed. Knowing the quality of Japanese cards I assume they all come with a good chance of getting a 10 right out of the box. And there are a lot of other cool boxes as well!

It’s possible my information on the price of the box could be outdated though.

I picked up my sealed box back in December from YJA for the equivalent of £550. I believe pkonno has sold some recently for over ¥130,000.

As for quality, the majority of the cards came back as PSA 9 with Articuno being the only holo to receive a 10. The major problem is that most of the cards are slightly off centre.

Annoyingly I’m pretty sure it’s a situation where they’re just off centre enough for PSA to award a PSA 9 instead of a 10, but I’m pretty sure it’s random. One of the 10s I received looks more off centre than most of the 9s, but I guess that’s just PSA for you.

I was hoping I’d pull a well-centred Caterpie as that’s my favourite card from the set and so far has no PSA 10s, but nope, mine came back an 8 and the centring is terrible.

All of those are quite low pop under 100, moltres around 35. any idea regarding value, I see some crazy prices on ebay. also wondering why the masterball is so much lower in value, it’s a pop73, really old and i absolutely love the artwork.
