1996 Bandai Carddass Appreciation Post

The very first released Pokemon card set of all time.

This set was released 3 weeks before the TCG release on October 20th, 1996

This set came in two colors (Green & Red) to correlate with the Gameboy games

The two color theme also encouraged the activity of trading amongst children to be able to “collect them all”

I think I was very fortunate to be able to get these cards as a complete set when I did. This set along with the Part 3 go so well in a binder and make for an brilliant binder showcase.

They actually look best in the station system file that was meant for it. The system files themselves look so cool with the classic Ken Sugimori artwork. I personally don’t use it for storing the cards themselves, but they look very nice to have on shelves.

Very awesome collection piece for any collector to have!

Cheers!

They really do!!! That 97 set has my favorite Pikachu of all time too!

Check this out, I actually just restored an old Carddass machine with the displays from part 1 & 2 from the 1996 set. Seriously so awesome!!

Coolest thing I’ve seen all day. These relics are among the best in the hobby. Beautiful restoration, nicely done!

Appreciate the kind words my friend!

For any future person that reads this thread, I just wanted to share that these machines are extremely delicate and a lot more complicated inside than most would assume. I’d recommend buying from someone who has shipped these machines before that understands the delicacy and how easily pieces can break on the inside of the machine in shipping. I was very fortunate that someone explained all this to me before buying, so if this post helps one person, I’ll be thankful!

Other than that, it is absolutely amazing, and I want to start taking it to card shows to let other people see and get to experience the wonder. I can’t overstate how amazing it is lol
