I received my grades from my recent sub but after looking at the pictures it appears to be in the wrong slab. It is slightly larger on the inside and appears to even have some sort of inner sleeve.
“1LR” slabs are meant for sports cards. First time seeing this mistake. The inner sleeve prevents it from moving around, so maybe it was intentional? Weird.
No! I’ve reached out to PSA and will update with any findings. It doesn’t match my collection so I need it recased.
Thanks, I will reach out and update as well. I am not a fan of this and would also like for it to be recased.
@ddk Could this be why your slabs feel heavier?
The Clair’s Dragonite PSA slab I bought recently is definitely made of different material than every other PSA slab I own. It is quite a bit heavier and when compared to another recent slab (right), you can see the subtle differences in material. It was not put in a BGS card condom inside the slab, like the examples above. This slab was bought from Japan, if that helps.
At first I thought it was a fake slab but the label, QR code and PSA lighthouse logo check out, as does the cert number.
Anyway, this is getting cracked for the binder so I don’t really care too much. It just weirded me out at first because the difference in slab material was noticeable.
I wonder if PSA is running low on their slabs so they are putting them in these until they can make more?
I’d be surprised if their production of new slabs could keep up with the speed of their grading, especially with how fast I’ve seen some of these grades come back. Although I’m not sure how they make the slab components so this could all be nonsense
I’m kinda surprised they made this call. Obv the idea is that any delay in assembly is very expensive. But so too will be the customer support hassle and the requests for reholdering.
I’m a bit nervous that they anticipate this and plan to deny any requests for reholdering
Ok, somebody post the [old certs monke victory dance gif]
I think sometime within the last few months they started making their slabs out of a new (heavier material). My two most recent submissions have fit this criteria: Heavy, a bit more matte looking than previous slabs, and the plastic is super bendy, making cracking cards a nightmare.
This has been the case with cards I’ve submitted in Japan for over a year I think (cracking them sucks…)
Is this the new PSA standard to sleeve the cards in the slab? From the scans this looks awful
