Why even bother with PSA 10s?

Did you post the results in the GGRT?

Not yet. I will be doing so in the next few days. I’m just busy at the moment. I recorded my initial reaction and will be posting both my submission and reaction on youtube eventually as well. It’ll be fun for all ages lol

I almost wish PSA had some way to tell if a card has already been graded so people who crack slabs and resubmit don’t mess up the POP report. Maybe use the same PSA DNA tecnhology?

I too have been wondering why people pay 2.5x the amount or more on a card with the difference of a 9 to a 10. Seems kind of silly, especially considering that cards are graded by humans (lots of different ones too) and there is subjectivity. I have 9’s that should be 8’s and others that (I think) should be 10’s. People say buy the card, not the grade, but rarely does this happen.

On the other hand, I kind of get it. Some collectors strive for perfection and anything less than the best is not acceptable. I always get a chuckle when watching YT channels of Gem Mint Pokemon or Pokemon Fetish when they get an 8 back from PSA and they act like the card is shit. To each their own I suppose…

Bad analogy bro. A Camry is likely to be a much better long term car than a BMW. Heavier depreciation, higher running costs and less reliable

Sit on your thumb

A better analogy from years ago, might be Toyota Camry and Lexus ES300. Basically same car different trim.

this thread took a weird turn…

If we are comparing PSA 9 and 10’s to cars:

A PSA 10 is like a brand new BMW. Super clean, new, no scratches or markings, just perfection.
Getting a PSA 9 is like getting that same exact model BMW, but used. Someone leased it, drove it around for a year, kept it in great condition, but there are some minor flaws and a few thousand miles on it.

Just like automobile life, some people will only buy brand new for that pristine ride and maybe some extra bragging rights. They enjoy it being flawless and wouldn’t considering buying it any other way. The person who buys used/pre-owned still loves the car, but wants to be a little more economical about it and doesn’t mind the minor scratch on the fender. They’re not buying a hoopty, but the difference been a new card and a 1 year old car is not worth paying almost double for.

PS. I’m a Ford guy.
