i always liked wailord but he sucks so never could actually use him
dragonite ez u just buy a dratini from the game corner when u first reach celadon and youll have a dragonite by the time u do e4
Maybe others tried this trick too: trading the Pokémon you want to use (e.g., Dratini) into a new game as soon as you could!
Rhydon definitely doesn’t suck. He was easily one of the most powerful Pokemon in Gen 1 and was a competitive staple.
I always really wanted the Mewtwo/Mew combination in the 1st and 2nd generation games but obviously only ever glitched it at the time. I don’t think I ended up playing with him much after I got them since there wasn’t really end game content but it made it feel complete in a very satisfying way. It’s annoying how difficult it is to fill out the pokedexes in the newest games and with trying to transfer them to switch now from pokemon bank.
I remember using Ampharos the last 2 times I played gold. Love that Pokemon. Strong too.
Gen 1 I always used Jolteon/Nidoking. In Gen 2 my favourites were probably Crobat and Espeon, but my young brain couldn’t comprehend the evolution by happiness. Using more than one eeveelution also felt wrong.
Another staple was Kadabra (could never get Alakazam). I’ve also only ever chosen the fire starter. At this point I feel like it’s hard to break the streak.
I always wanted to use a kingdra in a play through but never had access to a link cable to be able to get one in gen 2 or 3
When I was a kid I was quite literally obsessed with pikachu and lugia, now though it’s mostly more reasonable picks like mismagius or ninetales, lol.
Didn’t stop me from putting him on my team, with swampert…
Yeah you could pretty much use anything in game so long as you have decent enough coverage.
Gengar alakazam and scizor.
I wish there was a mechanic where you could run into Pokemon with rare stats that could equate to any stage level Pokemon that isn’t Mythical/Legendary. So you could find a Charmander as strong as a Charizard, A Sudowudo as strong as a Dragonite, or a Haunter as weak as a Diglett.
That way you could play with your true favorites throughout the game - Much like an Ash & Pikachu situation where Ash’s pikachu is ridiculously strong.
I always wanted that in a game. I loved the idea of toting around a Totodile, Aron, Jigglypuff, Haunter, Scyther, and several other Pokemon around throughout my journey but then had to add my strongest instead for the sake of fun. I tried this one time, actually, by training a Jigglypuff and Haunter. The Jigglypuff wasn’t even close to practical by level 50 but the Haunter stayed in my team to the bitter end - I just didn’t use it all that often.
And if you then add size variation? And then variations by region? Pfft! Yes please!
Then I could accomplish my dream of a creepy Jigglypuff that learns Sing and Dream Eater.
I never used tyranitar in gen 2 and it was one of the strongest
Any of the pokemon that required trading. For non-trading pokemon, probably feebas/milotic
I use Volcarona in every single game I can. Even in Sword, Eternatus is just a straight up better pokemon but I always just leave it afk in the party and keep the rona slot 1
Gengar and Alakazam for sure. Slowking in gold/silver-I believe I needed to trade slowbro while it was holding some item. Unfortunately, I did not have friends to trade with. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald was my favorite generation (still love the first 2 generations of games!). I was so disappointed that I could not attend the event(s) to get Jirachi and Deoxys.
- Milotic in Emerald.
- Golem in FRLG, I used Alakazam and Gengar by trading Kadabra and Haunter with a friend, but never traded a Graveler to get the Golem.
