Reprint can be any set, as long as it features reprint-cards (it may also feature original cards).
I actually like Evolutions, even though it was hated on by everyone. I will admit that it isn´t the best set, and a bit of a mess, but a fun mess. Because it features reverse holo´s of the Base Set cards, it´s very hit-heavy and pulling the original holo cards is still fun, even though the Base Set cards are (in my opinion) better.
There are only two sets to consider in my view. One of them is Base set 2, scourge of childhood hope, the other gave us galaxy versions of wotc hall of famers (and a non cheapo Machamp.)
Well, I’d also throw WEB Gengar (technically a reprint) and birds (technically not reprints) in there. E-reader borders > old back and holo > non-holo.
Features hall-of-fame artworks in slick E-series format, with artworks from base to Rocket, Vending series, as well as cards such as the tamamushi Magikarp! The set also features unique holo versions of the legendary bird trio illustrions from Naoyo Kimura, as well as the famous masaki promos! Here’s just a couple:
I am also a fan of the Legendary Collection but in my opinion Pokemon Web is by far superior due to the more careful selection of cards, including not just set cards but tons of promos and interesting cards from more niche sources!
I agree with you. The Web cards were really cool and felt very special. Legendary Collection gives me the same feeling. They both felt carefully planned.
Very interesting. I didn´t know a lot about this set (don´t collect Japanese). I always wondered though, why did they never release Dark Venusaur in English.
A version without the stamp exists too i screenshoted an old photo so it’s not the clearest but gets the work done.
But i agree, out of the reprint sets very few give anything clearly additional to the cards but web series does it extremely well, cosmos foil and reverse holo additions in base set 2 and legendary collection are also nice but the e-series borders and selection of cards in web series make it superior compared to others
I will go with Base 2, which was both, my least (2000) and most (2026) favourite reprint, just at different times. As a kid, I always thought the “2” meant something like a 2nd edition.
Apart from that, it would be reprints of cards from various sets in Natta Wake.
Why? Because I never saw Legendary Collection in stores, ever. Maybe it is because in 2002 I was no longer collecting Pokémon and moved into actively playing the Dragon Ball Z CCG. When I got back into Pokémon just months before Steam Siege I discovered Legendary Collection. I absolutely love the Legendary Collection reverse holos.
