Long story short I bought this in “ NM “ condition, it looked like the seller used a stock photo of the back of a perfect looking card, it unfortunately arrived a little more beat up then I had anticipated, what do you think it would grade!? Thanks.

Also should I try and open up a partial refund or what would you suggest
That’s a pretty solid PSA 7, which is NM. However, if he used a different back picture you could open a case if you are not satisfied. Normally i wouldn’t suggest that if it was simply you disagreed that it’s NM (that’s a risk you take as a buyer). In this case though, bait and switch is not cool, which it sounds like is what he did.
Yea the back had a light scuf mark in two different corners, I messaged seller to see if he would issue a partial refund
While the card does look NM(probably a 7-7.5), if the back is different than the picture in the listing that’s a different story.
Could you show us that listing, or at least the picture you mentioned?
I think you certainly deserve a partial refund. If the seller disagrees, just ask for a full refund and send the card back.
I don’t want to return the card because I got a great deal on it, I bought it as soon as it was posted on eBay. But here is the original post, you can see back of card in picture two

Well there’s only one picture of the back and I can already see the 2 bottom corners have some issues… It’s impossible to tell if it’s a picture of a different card. You got a good deal on a good card, I’m not sure I would ask for anything tbh. Best case scenario, they give you maybe $20 back. Worst case, you’re blocked from buying from them and getting another possible good deal in the future. It’s up to you really. ![]()
The guy just didn’t take good enough pictures. Honestly I wouldn’t ask for a partial refund, you already got the card at an incredible steal.
Yeah, many sellers also use a white background or bad angles… which is why you don’t see as much whitening on the bottom edge of the card.
It’s NM, it was a good price. You should be happy OP. Buying ungraded cards is always risky business. You win some, you lose some. Looks like you won this time.

This is a closeup of lefthand corner, I still think I was duped but I should be positive hat I did get a great deal! Thanks for feedback guys
Petty stuff like this deters me away from selling more things on ebay TBH.
If you got a good deal on a good card, I’d be happy with it. A partial refund would make it steal for this card.
I never go by what the seller lists as the condition. It’s super subjective and the lighting conditions and angles can make the world of deference. One might even say that PSA exists for this very reason ![]()
The seller took 6 pictures of the front, but they were all from the same angle. Back had only a single picture, but same angle.
Knowing those pictures and a NM description were all you had to go by, it was a risk. Front is near flawless but the back top and bottom has some whitening. It’s all about calculating risk/reward in this hobby, especially with ebay purchases.
I’d probably give it a PSA 7 which is the literal definition of Near Mint.
Front looks super clean. PSA7 all day, if the grader is feeling generous it might get an 8.
Just a tip @collectortyler , is that if you are looking for a PSA grade on a card to begin with, you would most likely be more disappointed than you will be happy. Pictures never show the full picture of the card, so the best judgment you can give is on the word of the seller, and if it’s NM, then you should judge the card as NM condition. Especially, if you are buying it immediately as-is. If you want precise pictures of something you are specifically looking for, then you should contact the seller and confirm if the pictures are exactly what you are getting, or if they can take more pictures for you. Like you said, you jumped on the deal because you got it for a steal, so in exchange you took this risk to begin with.
Absolutely the seller is responsible also for providing accurate pictures, but there is a possibility that the seller messed up uploading the wrong back of the card (which trust me it’s much easier than you think especially since the seller is selling more than 1 pokemon card; they look all identical) or they mishandled it during packaging and shipping. In that case, if you are unhappy with the card I believe you have the full right to ask for a refund for the card. However, like you said, you got the card at a steal, like almost 1/3 of the card’s price sold at PSA 7. I think personally, it’s sort of unfair to be so harsh on the seller of the card as it still falls in the parameter of their description, and there is a very strong possibility the seller is just a novice still at buying and selling (via feedback on ebay), and perhaps thinking you got “duped” may be a bit unfair for the seller since the full story is not known.
Would you feel like you scammed someone if you sold a card at 66% off the market price but mishandled a picture that does not affect the overall description mentioned in your listing? Maybe it’s just me as a buyer, but I wouldn’t complain about it but I would probably mention it to the seller so that they know to be more careful next time!
Ask for a refund, but it is NM. Lesson learned don’t buy expensive cards from low feedback sellers.
NM sounds right.
Agree with everyone here this is definitely a NM even from the images you posted, this will very likely get a 7? based on what the generous number of PSA7s I have ![]()
