There has never been a bad main-series Pokemon game. In fact, there has never been a mediocre or even just good main-series game. They are all simply degrees of exceptional and each game has multiple qualities which make it timeless. We have been spoiled with amazing games for so long that when one game is slightly less amazing than another we call it “bad.”
My post was the last post on that thread calling the recent games extremely mediocre and that I even skipped the latest one didn’t go down well lol. Haha. But posting positives about the game on this thread definitely makes sense since it is an “unpopular opinion”
I hated these, but what I hate even more is the CG designed cards…which is all of the highly collectible cards these days. All the secret rare charizard arts are terrible in my opinion. Have Matsuhiro Arita(SP?) do some of those cards like they did with some of the tag team series.
if I knew how to use a computer I would post examples! Damn my learning disabilities!
Fighting type often makes for lazily designed Pokemon and doesn’t mesh with the other types. Flying type is superfluous and similarly doesn’t mesh (although it is less egregious than fighting type). Heracross should have been the version-specific rare bug to stand alongside Scyther in place of Pinsir in gen 1. The existence of two card versions of each fully evolved gen 2 starter in Neo Genesis is annoying and unsatisfying and one of each should have been chosen for inclusion instead. The fully evolved gen 1 starters should weigh substantially more than ~200 pounds each. Let’s just consider Charizard as an example of this. If Ash is roughly the average weight of a 10-year-old boy, which is about 70 pounds, then Charizard must be a lot more than 200 pounds given the glaring size difference between the two:
I’m not really sure what a “true collector” is, but I don’t think anyone should judge anyone else for how they take enjoyment from their collection. If someone enjoys watching the value of their collection go up and down then that’s absolutely fine.
i don’t understand the whole buy what u like bs. i mean cant you buy what you like and also buy sumthing with a gud price growth history? and price stablity? + theres a lot of misleading people away from the investing, hustling, flipping mentality in pokemon which i dont understand as well. if you don’t think money is important why do u have a job?
dont judge me for my unpopular belief please and thank you.
I think ‘buy what you like’ is just advice so you don’t feel too jaded when prices plummet and it is very good advice. Would you rather stare at artwork you really love that is worthless, or something you felt pressured to buy as an investment that is now worthless (that looks like shit in your eyes)?
Money plays a huge factor in all things and whether people like it or not and the existing monetary value or potential monetary value plays a significant role in the desirability of a card.
People complaining about investors/flippers are mostly salty because they’ve been priced out of cards.
thanks dude i was thinking that but i needed sum1 to confirm it. i still dont like the buy what u like thing because they are already planning to fail. can we atleast put sum thought into the finances behind the purchase. i mean there is risk in everything but at least reduce risk by being more educated when making a purchase.
It´s not our job as a collecting community to figure out whether a purchase makes financial sense for a certain individual. We have no background knowledge about these people nor are we financial advisors, therefore the “buy what you enjoy the most” answer is the most polite you can give.
i was talking about the person making the purchase not the community lol. i just want people to be smart with their own choices and they own money. including u. even gary v recommends studying before investing. i dont know how u got the idea i was talking about the community. i was talking about the individual. the individual himself is responsible to do his own research. there community is not responsible for anything. im not talking about myself since i know what to do myself its just that i feel bad for the people who make mistakes in this hobby and it costs them their money. i won’t mention which mistakes cuz i dont want to make an argument because that’s not the nature of the thread.
You are specifically stating: “theres a lot of misleading people away from the investing,…” if you were talking about a singular person making a purchase, who are the people then misleading the guy by saying “buy what you like” if not the community?
