Weight of a 1st ed base set pokemon box??

Hi everyone,

I am working on a youtube video that talks about authenticating boxes. Does anyone have any data on what the average weight of an entire sealed 1st ed base set pokemon box (english 1999) is?

  • The Hawaiian box previously owned by Collector’s Cache that Logan Paul bought weighed 787 grams when put on CC’s AND ek-1200i jewelry weight in Lenexa, Kansas in July of 2020.

  • Weighing pseudo-confirmed Shadowless boxes provides more data, likely to be of some use.

  • You can do averages with the data from pack weight databases to get rough estimates, unlikely to be of much use.

  • There are very few people with any noteworthy sample size of 1st ed base boxes, I imagine many of them either don’t remember, didn’t keep records or are unwilling to share/dig up the information. I’m mentioning this because you may want to reflect on how relevant/useful it is going to be to put it in a video.

  • Ironically, Logan Paul is likely to be one of the most well-informed sources on the subject as of today, if you can reach him.

  • Maybe Gary can help?

Thank you everyone for the help. I actually own one of these boxes and i’ll be making a youtube video about it detailing it’s history. with some of the fakes going on recently i thought it’d be a good idea to thoroughly authenticate and go over the history of a still sealed box for the community. This will also be the first time my box is ever filmed, i’ve had it for 14 years.

The Youtuber “Baseset” has a Video about authenticating a german 1st edition booster box. Its really indepth.

Original? - Pokemon 1st Edition Base Display Box Echtheit erkennen - Erklärvideo Deutsch - YouTube ( Sorry its in German but its by far the best Video i knew)

There he talks about a sample size of 20 Booster Boxes and all 20 were in a range of:
777 und 789 Grams
Most of them are in the range of 777-781 Range

I have no clue if the Box is compareable to the english one but it seems ok when i see @c0ll3ct0r, post

Pls share your Video when you are happy with your Videoidea!

I had three green wing base boxes all almost definitely from the same case, if not certainly the same batch of cases. All three weighed exactly 791g FYI.

Of ten blue wings I’ve had the range was 784g-796g, and only two of them weighed exactly the same.
