Wata 9 Pokemon Gold Gameboy Game

Anybody have any recent comp prices for this? I found a 9.2 that sold for $3,300 back in october. Would you agree that $3,000 would be a fair offer? Im trying to do a cash/card swap with my friend for this.

A red-strip PAL 9.6 went for about $2950 a couple of weeks ago if this helps

Thanks for the info, it definitely helps. I have absolutely 0 knowledge when it comes to graded games.

So if a 9.6 PAL version went for roughly $3,000 USD what would you value a 9 U.S version?

Unfortunately it’s not just you who struggles to put a value on these things - graded game prices are all over the place, ha. Between the decimal grading points, region variants and price and supply volatility, there are too many variables for me to give you an estimate. Think this is one where you’ll just have to find a value you both feel comfortable with, maybe somewhere in the range of $2250-$3250 depending on whether your friend wants to give you a discount for not having to pay eBay fees

The graded videogames market it’s too unstable to say right now. That said, 3K USD seems a fair price atm.

From what I’ve seen, WATA graded games in the 9.0-9.4 range have been having some price retracing and correction. Also seal condition can impact pricing a little, although A+ and A++ seem to earn near the same price in that 9.0-9.4 grade range, anything with an A seal sells for a bit less than A+.

A PAL 9.6 has zero comparison to a 9.2 non PAL.

“Zero” comparison? Can you demonstrate that to me at all with some PAL vs NTSC price differences that are so stark to justify not even comparing 0.4 decimal grade differences? OP wanted some price points - do you have anything more useful?

Comparing PAL to NSTC prices is like comparing apples to oranges. Global demand for NTSC variants is much higher and stronger than for PAL, as seen in pricing differences. Plenty of SNES sales to show these differences.

I guess where I am confused is that the two prices cited here were comparable, $3300 to $2950, and that was with the latter sale taking place on eBay UK with a smaller buyer pool - but I’m not claiming to be an expert and I’ll take your word for it. It was definitely not always the case that a PAL variant depressed prices vs NTSC with ungraded games, especially since the PAL territory is so large, but clearly coming at this from the traditional angle is unhelpful based on what you are saying. I did specify that I couldn’t put a value on the game based on grade and region differences and someone else can bring some NTSC price points forward if they have them.

I exaggerate with “zero” but yeah I see countless example in all my searches that PAL is always worth a fraction of NTSC, it’s not even close - even for rare or highly sought after games.

What’s the seal rating? A+? A++? The most recent heritage auction sale for a 9.4 A++ Gold was $4k on December 9th with buyer’s premium. A 9.2 A+ sold for $3.3k with buyer’s premium back in June, and a 9.2 A++ sold with $3.8k with buyer’s premium in July.

Typically if you’re paying cash (or trading) in a private sale you should be getting a deal that’s better than the HA price similar to how you would slash 10-15% off of any eBay comps because of fees. But keep in mind that prices are trending downward, and the Gameboy pop reports should be getting released in the next several months. I would expect any mainline Pokemon title to further take a hit in value when this happens with the exception of the 9.8 A++ games, and any rare print variants (think the “Red” text first print Blue) due to likely lower populations.

If I were you I wouldn’t pay a penny more than $3k, and if the seal grade is an A or an A+ than I wouldn’t pay more than $2.5k. I’d also personally just wait a few more months until pop reports get released to see if I can get an even better deal.

I can barely find any WATA-graded PAL games on eBay to begin with, let alone on US eBay, so I’ll have to take your word for it. Unless, I hope you are not comparing ungraded PAL games sold on US eBay to ungraded NTSC games sold on US eBay. Really wouldn’t mind some sale data for some WATA-graded games to exemplify the region territory value difference since I can’t find any myself.

The reason I have so many US NTSC games is because I got them so much cheaper than PAL games, because on eBay UK they were always worth so much less than PAL. But I’ve only ever bought one WATA game, and that was another cheap NTSC - all my other WATA graded games I graded myself. Many of my graded Nintendo games were NTSC because they were available sealed at a fraction of the PAL price when I bought them. I’d be pleased if NTSC offered a value above PAL when graded but I can’t find any comparable sales to demonstrate this - except for the auction I posted, where the PAL copy did go for a comparable price to the NTSC.

Here is a picture of the grade and seal grade. He is looking for $2300 and the nice bonus is that he is interested in a few of my cards that i have, which would cover around $1000 to $1500 of the price. So far the agreed cards for the trade are…

PSA 10 Sylveon GX HF
PSA 10 Glaceon GX HF
PSA 10 1st Ed Non Holo Sabrina’s Gengar
PSA 10 Shining Jirachi
NM 1st Edition Holo Dark Dragonite
NM/LP Expedition Holo Gengar
LP Expedition Holo Tyranitar

He wants a PSA 10 Dark Gengar but I sorta dont want to include that. All in all, it seems like a win/win trade for the both of us card wise. This also makes me feel like a kid again, back in 99’ on the playground doing trades lol.

If you’re able to trade those cards to cover the some of price, then I vote to go for it. That looks like a decent price considering the comps I’m seeing, and sounds like it’s like you’ll be getting something you’d really enjoy.

Thanks for all the info guys, I ended up making the deal tonight. This is the first graded game I’ve owned, is this normal?

I’ve never seen glue that like holding a WATA case together
