The Poke Court in NYC Robbed Last Night

The Poke Court store in NYC was robbed at gunpoint last night while they were hosting a top-loader decorating community event. More than $100,000 in merchandise stolen. Wild to think that a pokemon store in 2026 may benefit from having an armed guard outside a la jewelry stores.

They posted some images of the stolen goods on their instagram with cert numbers.

Couldn’t find those.

But it’s indeed sad to see. This was apparently their very first event too, after moving into the store building two months prior.

Here two of their recent IG posts:

At least good to see no one got hurt, considering 40+ people were present due to the event. And despite being devastated, they still have their humor mentioning the Steam Siege booster box the robbers left behind (end of the first post above).

I feel like crazy stuff like this armed robbery; stolen packages; broken in homes; etc. are very sadly becoming more common these days among card games (not just Pokémon, sport cards and such as well). Or it’s just shared more perhaps. Either way, I sometimes really miss the quieter laid-back days of collecting, ngl.
Luckily we still have this amazing community here to counteracts all the negatives in the Pokémon hobby in general.

Really sad and scary that people’s lives are threatened over Pokemon items, but I’m glad everyone is safe.

I guess when something becomes an asset class that you can literally stuff in a backpack, someone will always try to take advantage. Sometimes, people suck.

This makes me mad. Why are there so many awful people like this in the world? Life is tough but that doesn’t mean you need to make it awful for others as a result.

Hope they catch the robbers . Bunch of losers and cowards.

Crazy they would do this during an event at the shop.

They’ve shown this on multiple nationwide news programs tonight. Hopefully these guys get caught with as much visibility as its getting and the traceability graded cards.

Maybe this isnt as big of an issue as it is in my mind if police reports are being filed but when people have their slabs stolen like this they should be going online to forums and their own social media posts and actually typing out cert numbers as text. Not just a scan/screenshot of PSA.

This could then help you get your card back, if someone is thinking of purchasing it but thinks its sketchy they can Google the cert number and actually find out its stolen.

Just a thought because every time lately when I see cards are stolen people post scans but that doesnt necessarily get indexed by search.

Its becoming more popular with several people posting their decorated toploaders on reddit weekly. Previously it was around once every 6-12months.

Actually horrifying. I hope that the criminals are found and prosecuted. Judging by the fact that they were wearing anime backpacks, I suspect that these are juvenile offenders or maybe college aged criminals.

Imagine racking up a Class B violent felony (armed robbery + grand larceny) over Pokemon cards. If they have no priors, the even crazier thing is that they could get off with 5 years each.
