Hi everyone,
Little story I would like to share, see it as sort of an personal introduction.
I’m 32 now and started playing Magic the gathering when I was younger. Played with friends in school but also really liked the collecting part.
As we all got older most friends stopped playing (mainly because on of the friends started to use the internet to make decks so we couldn’t beat him anymore, so much for fun…). At that time I met a guy who had the biggest collection of cards I ever saw. We started playing, became good friends and in the end started collecting together.
As time went on we got some great cards, multiple Black Lotus, Mox and al those great cards.
About five years ago another friend of mine (used to play magic with him in school, are again playing casual with that group of friends) started working at a fairly new auction company. The sold everything but trading cards… So we started talking and in the end I enden up running the trading cards auction for a year. I expected to just find Magic cards but 80% was Pokémon, which I hated at that time. Always thought it was for kids. I watched the show when I was younger but never had a feel with the cards.
Long time short and five years later, I now have almost all the Pokémon cards I want and I love collecting them. The Magic collecting slowed down a bit and the friend didn’t had much time anymore so collecting Pokemon for my personal collection was a refreshing welcome.
To get to the title of the story, they still have the trading cards auction where I used to work (no really big items, but once in a while something fun) and last week some Star Wars autograph cards popped up. Bought 2 great cards for a good price, one Topps autograph of John Williams and one Carrie Fisher autographed Sketch cards.
So that is how you get in collecting something different I guess. As time passes by interests change (not that I’m really collecting Star Wars now but who knows), collections change and it is refreshing to dig in a new world of collecting once in a while!
Love reading all the content here and your stories, here is mine for now.
